a) yeah you're right. I wanted us to get him instead of crouch in the summer but Crouchy has grown on me and i love him now even if i think ashton will probably go on to be somehting abit good if he manages his weight.

b) THE ABSOLUTE NO 1 GOAL this season was Bobby Zamora against Birmingham at St. Andrews. If that had been done by Ronaldinho it would be being sent to everyone on YouTube 100times a day.

Was never quite taken with Ashton nor I am taken with Crouch. And you are right about Zamora's goal.

You are spot on about Zamora's goal. Goal of the season so far no question.

I have spoken to 3 people who hold season tickets at different prem clubs who have all said Ashton was one of the best players they have seen this season from a visiting side. He'll get near 20 next season if Benayoun and Etherington stay fit.

Benayoun looks very composed and would have been ideal for our right wing. Reminds me a lot of what Kewell currently does for us on the left-hand side.

If Garcia had done what Musampa did for West Ham's second goal, we would never have heard the last of that either.

Imagine if Fowler had scored any of Garcia's last 10-15 goals!!

Good! Someone should have f*cking shot him after that. TWICE he got mugged. "But then he wouldn't have scored that screamer and..." blah blah blah

Brilliant touch by Ashton to make space for the shot in his first. Lovely skill indeed. He looks a big bloke as well. I reckon he could turn into a Shearer like player by his build and decent shot.

Good player, used to see him about town quite a lot.Rob Green's bird says he's gay,not that that's of much interest.

It's funny, the locals here were saying how schite he was just before he left, and that they'd got a great price.

I don't remember the Zamora goal. Can anyone do a romanticised description?

Or maybe even Youtube it ;)

There's no need to romanticise a goal where a bloke beats all 11 opposition players twice and then overhead kicks it into the goal from 35 yards out

Very, very similar to Robbie Keane's goal against Blackburn a couple of weeks ago.

:D

Goal of the season though, agreed.

Anton Ferdinand's wasn't bad either mind you.

And Stevie and Xabi have scored a couple of decent ones...

The reason why we don't hear the end of it when Henry and Goofy score great goals is because they do it on a regular basis. It's no fluke when they score such goals. Zamora will never score such a goal again, and neither he nor Ashton consistently score spectacular goals.

That's what seperates the greats from the Zamora's, the ability to do it time and time again. At the highest level (playing City in the FA Cup ain't it!)
