Nights out in Liverpool and Manchester

Will be passing through Liverpool and Manchester for a weekend shortly so I'm looking for any recommendations for good bars, clubs and restaurants. Will be with a small group in their late 20's.

 

No titty bars though as one of the guys will have his girlfriend with him.
