Some superb play rounded off by a class finish, and the best thing was that Shearer was complaining that he was fouled by Carra after fouling him himself. Irony of ironies that Shearer appeals for an off the ball foul :D

He he! He was manhandling Carra so Carra goes JUDO CHOP! Shearer is on his harris and we cut them to pieces. A sublime goal indeed - good work from Crouchy to get in the position for the 1-2

Shearer is a joke these days. Just what does he offer Newcastle? If the geordies want to know the reason behind their miserable form, they need look no further than wor al. An absolute liability.

And having the cheek to accuse Carra of a foul -Shearer, the dirtiest striker to have played in the PL- was plain silly.

Shearer got to be the most annoying player on the pitch in the league. Always whining and crying.

Now i remember the match at anfield this season when Stevie went crazy

answer me this: Gerrards's header looked so cushioned, it looked like he was tring to pass to himself

not trying to be picky, just curious

anyone else think that?

No.

Which player in the team spends most of his time providing knock downs, flick ons etc. with his back to goal and who Gerrard saw in front of him?

no doubt at all - that wasn't in my thinking..it was more a case of the way he seemd to relax his neck to a degree where I wondered why he didn't just chest it, as that would be easire to control i.e. he looked like he changed his mind last minute

anyway, idle curiosity - no more releveant than wondering what he had for tea, in the scheme of things

i did at the game...but watching it on tv he knew what he was doing

When I first saw it I thought the same. Thought he was trying to cushion it past the defender, run past him and shoot.

seeing it a few times since, and I was wrong.

Just watched it again, Stevie deffo played for the one-two, as soon as he headed the ball he ran to the right to get the return pass from Crouch.

I don't remember ever seeing him so anonymous. Should have given it up a while ago

i was surprised at how warmly stevie g embraced djib after the goal. it was a good pass, but didn't think it merited more than a firm handshake

Probably to make up for swearing at him earlier in the game! :D

i think you'll find Stevie was swearing at him throughout the whole game.

he also had a go at a couple of other players as well.

nice to see a bit of fire in our Captain.

He meant that all along, ran into space as soon as he knocked down the cross to Crouch, and credit to Crouchzinho who was on the same wavelength and provided a perfectly weighted return ball that Gerrard can comfortably hit first time for the goal

It was just a classy goal all around

The most interesting thing about that goal (apart from the fact that it won us the game) was Agger's role in it.

I just love to see the 3 at the back system used, to the extent that one of the 3 is at liberty to break out from defence to attack. When it's done well, with the right player, it's a devastatingly effective tactic.

Agger didn't just bring the ball out, he kept going, and was the red shirt nearest their keeper when the ball went in.

Great goal. Impressive team play and great run by Agger. He did it a lot of Brondby and I really hope he'll keep doing it for us. And we still haven't lost a game with him in the side. :D
