Liverpool manager Gerard Houllier pulls out of a deal to bring Leeds midfielder Lee Bowyer to Anfield.

Houllier had agreed a £9m fee with Leeds and offered the 25-year-old a contract worth about £35,000 per week.

 

But a statement issued by Liverpool read: "Manager Gerard Houllier was not convinced the player had either the hunger or desire to play for the club, qualities which are essential for any Liverpool player."

 

Were Liverpool right to ditch the deal? Or has Houllier made a bad misjudgement?
