Benitez Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 (edited) People take the piss out of The Bramble, but Boumsong is the one that has taken comedy defending to a new level. That incident today was hysterical. What a touch, and what a rugby tackle on Crouchy. If it was a one of you'd think 'well it happens', but Newcastle have had over a year of this. 8.5 mill. I know we've made some dicky transfers in recent years, so can't laugh too much But fec it! He's comedy gold. Oppps, probably wrong forum, not sure! Edited March 19, 2006 by Benitez
Dominus Maximus Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 Not really Liverpool related is it? Mods ban this man!!!
madskilz Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 To be fair when we were looking at him he was a good player, at Auxere and Rangers he looked like a really good defender - but the Scottish and French leagues are weak and he has been found out.
Guest snez1 Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 Awful mistake. Aparantly his wife and kid are ill in France though so I do feel sorry for the guy. Not overly convinced it had to be a red card but when i remembered it was Riley it was obvious he was off. 12 reds against us this season - double the amount of the 2nd placed team in that leage which i think is Fulham on 6. Amazing stat.
Clay Davis Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 him and Titus both do a mistake every match. they're both filled with dread.
Guz Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 The red card was harsh on us, we were at a disadvantage when he left the field

Dominus Maximus Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 Sky rated him 4, with a comment: Oh dear... LOL
madskilz Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 The red card was harsh on us, we were at a disadvantage when he left the field , was really disapointed that Bramble was'nt fit enough to play as well.
Zoob Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 I must admit I was concerned when I saw that Bramble wasn't playing, but thankfully his comedy partner was there to help us out.
DonRafa Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 The red card was harsh on us, we were at a disadvantage when he left the field Yeah, fecin homer ref!
Bootle Buck Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 Another fine product of that Auxere team. His pals Cisse and Mexes haven't been much better either. They must be pissing themselves laughing in Auxerre considering the money paid out for those three.

Boumsong left Auxerre on a Bosman - I doubt they are laughing at the fact that 6 months later Rangers got 8m+ for him.
stressederic Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 Boumsong and Bramble at the back are like the Chuckle Brothers. As an opposing team, you shouldn't be disappointed when you see the teamsheet and find out their regular centerhalf is missing. I was sad to see Bramble hadn't recovered!
Crazy Horse Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 I reckon Guy Roux used a brain-shrinking ray on his players at Auxerre.
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 the commentator we had in the US was really giving him some stick from the 1st goal until after he went
R A Softlad Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 the commentator we had in the US was really giving him some stick from the 1st goal until after he went Summed up at the end by saying there's no way he's a premiership quality defender. Lucky escape there me thinks... thank you greed.
Scally the Wag Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 I distinctly heard our commentators stating (after the first goal) that: a) he was a disaster;b) he was no way a Premiership defender; andc) he would be going to the World Cup with France...
magneto Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 Yup ..had the same commentator. I honestly don't know why Boumsong is playing like he is. He was very highly-rated...the next Trao...Desailly.
Guest AnfieldGrass Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 an 8 mil failure? He would have fit right in at Liverpool. Seriously tho, how bitter were newcastle? f***ing w*****s have been taking lessons from the mancs. Whats with all the booing? If anything they should have been booing their own pile of s**** players who were diving, cheating, fouling any chance they got. I supose when youre desperate even resort to bringing on dogs likes bowyer, and old has beens like shearer the disappearer. pretty sad state of affairs for the toon.
Guest Wilko Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 What were we thinking?I'll give you a clue....Houllier was the manager at the time.
psl Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 What were we thinking?I'll give you a clue....Houllier was the manager at the time. God his level of disrespect really f***s me off. Gerard Houllier did a great deal for this club. He won us many trophies, gave us some great games (including many victories against Everton and United) and signed players that will go down as all time legends at Liverpool. He's now doing very well indeed at Lyon. He always loved the club and acted with grace and dignity and he deserves better than snide remarks from clueless morons.
Cooldude Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 (edited) I distinctly heard our commentators stating (after the first goal) that: a) he was a disaster;b) he was no way a Premiership defender; andc) he would be going to the World Cup with France... Yep, same commentator, everytime he calls a game involving Newcastle, he bags the s*** outta him and make sure the viewers know just how s*** he is. Mentions him like once every 5 minutes One of the gold commentries he had involving Boumsong was when Newcastle was doing a set piece in front of the opposition box, Shearer's shot was going in, but Boumsong gets in the way and stupidly blocked the shot Then he said, "That's probably the best defensive block he's made all season" Edited March 20, 2006 by Cooldude
