c00p Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 I should hope he isnt 1st choice next season. However much i love Robbie he is not the striker that burst onto the season and seemed to score with every shot he took. He is still a very good player and without doubt a player worth keeping for rotation etc but i am hoping we sign at least one top striker in the summer which would knock Robbie down the pecking order a bit.
Guest hagis Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 If Fowler can regain his fitness and keep his work rate up then I hope he has a good few years in him yet.
Stanley Leisure Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 Today's Mirror has spun these quotes into - "I will get rid of Robbie if he does not score"
Ombudsam Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 Today's Mirror has spun these quotes into - "I will get rid of Robbie if he does not score" Ermmm I'm kinda hoping that is the case
Guest Phil C Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 Ermmm I'm kinda hoping that is the case Really? I think Robbie has it in him to play the Terry Sheringham role for LFC - given a proper chance...the number of defence splitting passes he's supplied already has been staggering...better player for LFC than Garcia, Nando and Cisse at present.
Guest RedIsMyColour Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 Fowler should definately stay. He is a great finisher and can be utilised easily in our squad. Considering his wages will be low too.
SkippyjonJones Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 what a great squad player he could be. If he wants to see out his career then why not at LFC as a 3rd / 4th striker.especially with the number of games that LFC should be in each year. should be a great sign of our ambition to have such an experienced pro happy to be involved at LFC, training and helping out the youngsters with the bonus of playing some 30 / 40 games a year - probably 10- 25 or so as a starter. Go on Robbie - sign on
Guest Anders Honoré Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 an adjective like 'staggering' is hardly one I'd use about Fowler's contribution. Fairly decent is what comes to mind which is more than can be said about our other strikers.
Knox_Harrington Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 Fairly decent is what comes to mind which is more than can be said about our other strikers.Ridiculous. Crouch has been a very good signing indeed.
Guest Anders Honoré Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 (edited) true. I am thinking more about since fowler arrived, and Crouch has been fairly average since then. Edited March 19, 2006 by Anders Honoré

But for other players being off side, RF's tally could be scored 3 in about 200 mins of football...and but for crap finishing by Nando, Crouch and Garcia his assists would be even better. I'd call that quite staggering, bearing in mind he's still trying to achieve full fitness.

If he doesn't score any goals then i hope we bring in someone else. We're probably replacing the three you named so that's no great benchmark

He's been fairly decent and showed promise of perhaps more to come. No more, no less.
Redwire Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 As sammy likes to say 'if only' is a bit of a crap defence. "If only" is a pretty good defence in this case. He's done his job and put the ball in the back of the net and the fact that two were disallowed because of other players' actions shouldn't detract from that when judging how he's done.

Ombudsam Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 As sammy likes to say 'if only' is a bit of a crap defence. sounds like a smart bloke
