I went for a pint with a couple of our photographers after work yesterday and they were going over some of the funny stories they've accumulated over the years.

The best one was this, Mike who's in his 50's, was watching the barcodes train and he was way off near the corner flag with his zoom lens on. Anyway, the ball goes out of play and rolls to Mike's feet so he t***s it over towards the edge of the area, shearer meets it perfectly and volleys it into the top corner past Shaka Hislop. He got a bit of an ovation for his assist.

Another one: The other lad Daz, was telling me of another time when the Barcodes were training in the area and he went over to cover the story. Anyway King Kenny was there signing autographs for kids and being a real star. So Daz shouts out 'Oi Kenny over here! local press' to which Kenny replies 'What d'yer want, a f***ing medal'? tail firmly between legs that time.

I not only nutmegged Lee Carsley when he was an apprentice at Derby, but I was our rush keeper at the time, on my own goal line, and I called it before doing it.

I've done a backheel to John Barnes in front of 20,000 people.

I've got letters from over 20 Football League Clubs rejecting my application for the position of manager.

Charlton a few years ago. Stanley Collymore hits a shot at James in pre-match and it curls away just missing the top right hand corner of the goal and is flying towards my mate who's carrying our bevvies and a hotdog. I reach over catch the ball in one hand therefore saving the aforementioned snacks. Stan says something to James - probably 'I bet you couldn't do that' - gives me a round of applause. Paul gives me my bevvie. Everyones happy.

my claim to fame is making a fool of jim platt, who was then the middlesboro' no.1 and norn iron second choice keeper, in a penalty kick competition at the age of 9. taking phil neal as my inspiration, i managed to wrongfoot him three times out of three.

not quite a claim to fame, but one of my most satisfying footballing feats was when i was cycling through a park and a stray ball was ballooning its way into my path. i sped up and got to the ball just in time to swing back my weaker foot and volley it sweetly back to the group of lads 20-odd yards away. they gave me a round of applause for my efforts.
