Herbie von Smalls Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 maybe, just maybe, Liverpool is the only place where anelka does actually feel a genuine connection and maybe LFC is the only club that he feels motivated to give it 100%. i'm wary myself, but if Rafa's that impressed, surely it's worth a shot on some kind of Fowleresque incentivised contract.
Guest hagis Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 In his autobiography Phil Thompson claims that they got shut of Anekla as he or his agent were trying to set something up with Arsenal. LFC found out and got rid. How true that is, I don't know. Eitherways, with the number of clubs that Anelka has played for I'd rather not take a chance on him.
mickdundee Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 YakubuKuytDefoeTorresAJOwenBentRonaldo Even if we did manage to get them all, Rafa would have a job on his hands to keep them all happy. And I doubt we could afford it.
Guest hagis Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 Could well be. I though that considering the amount of interest at the time in Anelka not being offered a contract that Thompson would have said more about it. Eitherways, I'm sure whatever the reason it was in the best interests of the club.
Cooldude Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 Reckon we might need to buy two strikers come the summer, and Anelka and Owen would be alright. Don't think Anelka would have the guts to do any silly buggers with Rafa in charge
Benitez Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 I think Nicolas is a misunderstood character. He was very happy here and is forever blaming Ged for not staying true to his words. the irony, Anelka, who has sulked until he gets his way, and gets to leave so many clubs, having the gall to blame someone else for him not staying somewhere. He's an prize twunt.
McBain Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 Rafa's signings upfront in his time here have been Morientes, Crouch and Fowler. 3 players who can join in with the build up but if asked to run a mile would need 5 drink breaks. So if Rafa has targetted 3 quick players who can play on the shoulder but struggle to hold the ball up it would mean a major shift in his ideas Personally i'd be feckin delighted if we finally signed someone who would be able to stretch defences and give us the option of actually counter attacking teams, but i'm not sure it's Rafa's way
madskilz Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 anelka was, is and always will be a sh*thouse. Is right, no matter how many chances he is given he still fecks up. He is a lost cause IMO
Guest Jack Bauer Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 Is right, no matter how many chances he is given he still fecks up. He is a lost cause IMO Except at Liverpool, where he was settled and loved the club, a lot more than that c*** Diouf did.
stressederic Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 Could Anelka be our Cantana? c***ona more like (see what I did there). The idea of bringing Anelka back is just mind bogglingly, especially when people can't seem to decide whether we should bring Owen back. Anelka was never that good for us, he was alright in some games, but he hardly rattled in the goals, and he's soaked and whined his way through damn near every club he's been to.
Stevie H Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 Except at Liverpool, where he was settled and loved the club, a lot more than that c*** Diouf did. he also loved arsenal, real madrid, PSG and man city. apparently. he's f***ing damaged goods.
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 (edited) There seems to be a myth with Anelka that he scores goals for fun. He doesn't. His scoring ratios are average at best. 8 years ago he had potential & has never moved on PSG - 67 games, 12 goalsArsenal - 76 games, 25 goalsReal - 19 games, 2 goalsLiverpool - 22 games, 5 goalsCiteh - 103 games, 46 goalsFenerbache - 35 games, 10 goals Don't know when they were accurate to, but still 100 goals in over 300 games isn't Henry-esque Edited March 18, 2006 by Macca
Cisse Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 I can't understand people who want Anelka back. Pls let it stop now !
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 I'd have Owen back in a shot. I'd sooner shoot Anelka
Ombudsam Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 yes you bloody did No I mean to the silly extent i was doing that Anelka thing. I was always a Milan = MURDER man. He was my favourite. Like Fowler was over Owen and Crouch is over Mori. Youn can't love all our strikers equally es la le
Elisha_Scott Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 Darren Bent, 2 meetings between agent and LFC so I have heard.
CarraLegend Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 Darren Bent, 2 meetings between agent and LFC so I have heard. That'd be good, he's looked a quality player this season. Got everything.
