floyd the barber Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 yes he made an error that led to fulhams goal, but other than that...he was excellent. He shows great composure for one so young, and has got a stunning pass on him.... His movement and reading of the game reminds me of hansen, just needs to bulk up a bit and we`ve got the perfect replacement for Sami.
Lee W Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 He wasn't at fault for the goal at all - Traore left him high and dry by trotting back into position while the ball was being contested in midfield - what the feck was he doing for all that time. Agger tried to split Pembridge and John but was beaten by a decent pass. It happens.
KD07 Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 Watched the match and I thought the dodgy pass aside, he put in a good number of blocks and interceptions by reading the play rather than having to make a recovery run or tackle to accomplish them. I'm sure he has decent pace on him but have yet to see it really tested but I reckon his approach would be on relying on his positioning to minimize the chances of that instance happening. On the other hand, his hair was all over the place.
Guest Sabre Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 It was a sloppy pass for the goal. Not sure where Djimi was though... He reads the play well and pounces on the ball to snuff out attacks
Eiler99 Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 It was a sloppy pass for the goal. Not sure where Djimi was though... Why did Gerrard not move towards the ball though instead of trying to shield it? He looked like he was just trying to avoid a tackle. Sloppy pass indeed, but Gerrard could've cleared it if you ask me. I thought Agger did well overall. And almost scored as well. Should've blasted it instead of passing to Garcia.
Eiler99 Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 Everything is Djimis fault. It needed to be said.

I said that to my mate. He seemed to bottle out of a couple of tackles. Maybe he is carrying an injury as he wasnt himself last night.
Guest Kev Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 I thought Agger had a good game, he looks a lot more promising than Kromkamp at the moment.
anny road Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 kromkamp did well until Sunday Why do we have to priane a player by bashing another
Puskas Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 I think Agger is doing great. I believe that was his first start alongside Carra? At the age of 21? I'd like to see the Carragheragger combo given a run of games to build up a bit of understanding...
IgPig Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 Went to the game with the missus last night, which i don't usually do. She didn't know who Agger was, but made a number of comments about how well he did. and if my missus said it, it must be right. She also prefers Luis' hair now then when it was longer.
Mike Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 he dwells on the ball a little too long which im sure he'll get over - he nearly got caught out again in the second half and got a b******ing of carra.traore was comical last night. im convinced he thought he was playing left mid.

They were practicing Traore overlapping Kewell before kick off. Put some decent crosses in - in fairness to him.
Guest Sabre Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 I love watching Traore run like a giraffe up the flank. He did alright getting forward but was awful at the back. Agger is in the 'impress at all costs' mode - he wants to pick out a top pass each time but he'll get used to deciding when it's safe to do that. Fulham did a good job of closing down our defenders yesterday, but it worked in our favour as it gave our wide men and our forwards a bit more time and space.
Bootle Buck Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 Raf needs to give him games and build his confidence and understanding with the other two. Sami and Carra work their bollix off every game and need a break. He kind of reminds me of Jonathon "sick note" Woodgate a little.

Mike Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 his passing is generally very good - much better than sammis or carras, i'll give him that.
CaptainXabi Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 Agger did alright, he definitely has the tools to succeed. But I get the feeling that things still happen a little too fast for him in the Prem, but he'll get over that. It does however show you how magnificent Sami and Carra are when one of them isn't playing.
Mike Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 they weren't helped last night by the fullbacks.finnan has been off the boil too lately.
