Gunga Din Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 now, i dont want this to sound overr critical, but in the league at Anfield this season, that tonight was teh worst we played. allover the park we were awful. a lot of players did not play well tonight, our midfield gave the ball away cheaply, we were second to a lot of loose balls, and we had little or no flow to the game. yet we won 5-1. i felt a bit sorry for fulham at the end, they certainly werent 4 goals worse than us tonight, and indeed could and should have been level before we got a third. tonightwas just one of those nights were everything we hit went in, it was going to happen sooner or later, but to p[lay that badly and win 5-1 was bizarre to say the least.

The thing is, we could have scored more than 5. Warner nearly turned a cisse cross into his own net at the end(and i wish he had, woulc have been great for all 4 strikers to score) and morientess was put through cleanly 3 tmes by fowler only pass it to the gk.
Barnesy_10 Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 100% agree mate... was going to post something similar.. terrible performace, kinda makes up for the games where we played well and got nowt out of it.. i am worried about the match on Sunday as Newcastle are playing well and we aren't, and we seem to have struggled up there recently... but 5-1 is always nice, but it papers over the cracks for one night at least

Guest FrankH Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 Was quite impressed by Fulham, they're not a bad team at all and certainly didnt deserve to lose 5-1 - s**** defence though and that'll cost them more than not.
anfield Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 Everytime Ive watched fulham they have played well abd still gotten hammered. I do feel sorry for them. Plus coleman seems like a decent bloke
Kenny_ Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 http://cache.gettyimages.com/xc/57100226.j...04C48AA093D97E9 Great night.
floyd the barber Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 i watched the game and thought we were excellent first 20mins...with fowler being outstanding, then fulham really grabbed a goal out of nothing...well a poor ball from agger(who other than that was superb) 2nd half and fulham worked hard to try and break us down.....yet we showed the edge we recently have been lacking....
fred milne Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 Was quite impressed by Fulham.I thought they were dreadful. To be honest, I didn't think we were as bad last night as is being made out in this thread.
Guest Kev Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 (edited) Agree Wayne, it was some of the worst football we played last night. Didn't feel sorry for Fulham, but felt a tinge of pity. Impressed with Malbrangue and John. What the hell we were doing keeping the ball in the corner with minutes to go at 5-1 up All those people who left early missed two goals Edited March 16, 2006 by Kev
Cobs Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 What the hell we were doing keeping the ball in the corner with minutes to go at 5-1 up Only saw the highlights - but yeah, was thinking the same. Bizarre. Should have knocked it in the box looking for No.6 - WTF were they frightened of?
Montse Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 So ... we snould play that badly every week - we'll score a hatful of goals!
Guest Jack Bauer Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 They wanted to spare Tony Warner anymore embarassment because he is a red

Impressed with Malbrangue and John. What the hell we were doing keeping the ball in the corner with minutes to go at 5-1 up All those people who left early missed two goals yerp we've played a hell of a lot better v Charlton, Brum & Benfica. Malbrangue was the best player on the pitch God alone knows why we where to$$ing about in the corner in the last minute - & what's more it lead to the unpleasantness at the end As for those who left early - they deserve to miss the goals - I just hope it was the muppets who where booing the subsitutions
Cunny Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 I thought Gerrard coasted through the game last night. It seemed like he couldn't be arsed.
AE Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 I thought Gerrard coasted through the game last night. It seemed like he couldn't be arsed. Cause he's off to Chelsea with Rafa. FACT.

Completely agree fella..! Enjoyed the match though - bit of a release like, and especially the banter between a fella in the centenary stand and Radzinsky..! "You should have stayed on £30 a week at Everton...!!"
Mike Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 we were bloody rubbish last night.football's a crazy game for sure.
Guest JV Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 Thought Traore played well, especially going forward.
