McBain Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 If it's to 2010 and he signed a 5 year contract in 04 then how is it a 3 year extension?
5InIstanbul Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Don't follow this. If its a 3 year extension to 2010, that means his current deal was set to expire next year. That can't be right surely.

jimmylibel Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Tomorrow's story: Rafa Benitez was last night forced to sign a new contract with Liverpool after the two other clubs he was linked with turned their back on him. The contract announcement follows Inter Milan's declaration that they will stick with Mancini next season while Real Madrid had turned their attentions to AC Milan's Carlo Ancelotti. These various movements left the Spanish tactician with little choice but to sign for struggling Liverpool, etc, etc.
Guest sniffer Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Oh dear. Apparently it is a ONE year's extension.....
jimmylibel Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Oh dear. Apparently it is a ONE year's extension..... God yeah, only four more seasons to go!

mooks Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Didn't Houllier sign a contract extension after the treble season, and now we are (censored)ed financially after paying him offYou've convinced me we should never offer a contract extension, or indeed a contract, again. The risks just aren't worth it.
Benitez Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 I'd be amazed that: a) Liverpool would give a manager such a long deal, after the amount they had to pay to get Houllier out. b) Rafa would want to commit to an even longer deal than the one he's already on. After all, he is the man who chose to have a one year contract at Valencia for a while. I therefore think this story is either bollorks, or errr, not quite true. yet.
