floyd the barber Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 the few times we have seen these guys together, they have seem to have a good understanding..So why does Rafa not seem interested in giving this partnership another go?? It would seem ideal, you have your tall guy who can hold the ball up and the electric pace for the ball to be played through too....and we have seen this combination work well at the few times we have seen it this season Find it very strange why Morientes gets in ahead of Cisse.... anyone have a clue, is it a tactical thing? is it simply that cisse is too eractic and doesnt work hard enough at bringing others into the game?(which shouldnt be his job in my opinion anyway)
Guest evil_billy Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 Why he plays Crouch on his own up front and then brings Cisse on at right wing is even more baffling.....
Romario Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 The only partnership I thought had genuine potential was Baros and Morienties against Olympiakos. In 45 minutes they showed more than anything I've seen all season. Setting eachother up, creating opportunities for eachother, reading eachothers games well, one goes wide the other goes into the box etc.

Guest AdamS Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 Cisse shouldn't ever play for us again. The end.
Ombudsam Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 when did baros and morientes play against olympiakos? friendly
Guest AdamS Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 don't remember thatMedjani should also be first choice centre back. Know your football laddie!
sutty Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 Cisse doesn't play very well. Sometimes the simplest answer is the correct one.
Romario Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 don't remember thatI could be wrong but we were 1-0 down at half time and they came on and we won 3-1 in 45 mins with them scoring all 3 setting eachother up also.I was blown away and got so excited for the season ahead. Baros looked up, and both found eachother with ease. Baros did all the channel work and made room for Moro and then Baros was sold! I thought feck it Cisse can do the Baros roll then I realised he was worse than even I thought.

They really did look good together in that game.
Ombudsam Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 don't remember that garcia got the first after a crouch mazy. Milan got two, one by running over the top and taking it round the keeper and the other through a header from a near post run. He set up Nando through a pull back and nando took it sweetly first time from the edge of the area. Milan could ahve got another from a great piece of skill by nando. They looked proper good together Rivaldo had a blinder and this kid called toure in the middle of the park played well for them I could be wrong but we were 1-0 down at half time and they came on and we won 3-1 in 45 mins with them scoring all 3 setting eachother up also. yeah you are

Eitherway that was the best 45 mins of liverpool forward for years for me. Their link up was like Collymore and Fowler or Hasselbaink and Gudjonsson who were quality together as well as a forward line.

Their link up play was ace but it was a friendly

I watched it hence i remember it. Le Tallec and Cisse linked up really well in pre season too but that was mostly in friendlies too. I'd still have baros but not on the basis of a second half 45mins with a striker who i reckon is poo poo

You should have seen Fowler's dribble down the left wing and cross against Leeds in the FA Cup during the Treble season.

I think it was Leo 8 who mentioned how strong he was in Spain (looked like a typical old school English forward ala Shearer) and I remember thinking that as well. Now unless the CB's in Spain are a bunch of ladyboys I don't know what has happened to him. Can he really be that unfit still? I honestly don't see our league being THAT much tougher. Chelsea didn't blow Barca down with tough tactics at all this season. He still shows what a great ball player he is from time to time outside the box with his quality one touch and quick turns etc but he used to do that stuff 30 yards up the pitch in the box as well as score which has me stumped. I really don't know if it's time for him to go or is it just a dreadful patch he's going through. I can see how his general play and 15 ish goals a season would do us a wonder of good (that's what I thought we'd get over a season) but I honestly don't know if it's passed him or he's just hit a really really poor patch.
