Worry or move?

We live in flat in North London (top two floors of converted house) and got home last night to find a guy and woman sitting on the front steps to the house. He asked if we lived in the upstairs or ground floor flat and I said top and why? He said he'd just gotten out of prison, he lived there 8 years ago (I've been here 5) and when he left he'd hidden a bag in the roof space(!) which he wanted back.

 

I told him the house had been changed and the roof space was now open and nothing that had been there when we moved in was still in place. The pair of them then kicked off and tried to force their way in at which point my downstairs neighbour came out and we managed to get rid of them. We called the police and they confirmed the prison story without revealing names etc and dsaid they'd keep an eye on the place. At 4am, the front windows in my flat and in th ground floor flat had bricks thrown through them - some co-incidence. I've gotten a feeling this has not ended -gulp!
