XabisBadFoot Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 I am all for Darren Bent coming to Liverpool. He scored a goal last night against Boro, using a move which was a world away from anything any of our strikers have shown this season. It's called "making a run"...!!
cymrococh Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 Oh brilliant, a striker speculation thread! How novel

Not seen any evidence that we're looking at him but we bloody well should be. And Defoe carries far more threat than any striker we currently have on the books by the way. Both have pace to burn and we need it.

I honestly can't remember the last time we scored a bog standard goal like that.
Leo No.8 Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 (edited) According to a very reliable poster on one of the other sites, Rafa wants Yakubu this summer. I'd be delighted if we could get him; apparently, his goalscoring record since he came to England is actually second only to Henry, which is astounding. If he hasn't got a release clause in his contract though, I imagine Gibson won't be too keen to play ball with us after the whole Ziege affair and nicking Zenden off them for nothing last summer. He'd possibly have to kick up a stink to make the move happen. Apart from him I like Kuyt, and Dutch players tend to adapt well to playing in England. Berbatov is another who wouldn't be too pricey, and Bojinov is a great talent, but really I'd prefer a striker with a proven record in England - Bent has done really well this year, and of course Owen is an option if he does have a release clause in his contract. Our game is so much different to other leagues, strikers like Morientes with great records abroad, sometimes fail to adapt and we can't afford for that to happen again this time. Leo No.8 Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 Johnny H is the poster - he's been right much more often than he's been wrong. The only time I can remember him being wrong was over Owen, and to be fair it seemed like he was coming until the last minute. He's got an excellent source I think, but who it is I don't know...

If his agent was on the ball, he would of insisted on a release clause, to get out of that sh1thole, and also he had a pretty complex contract when he was at Macabi, so who knows? God knows why he only went for £7.5m? 23 years old and prolific, something has to have been put in place
Guest Cardie Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 If Rafa had listened to me in the summer it would have saved all this fuss.

Guest The Defender Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 I'm not doubting his ability or the fact that he is on his day the best striker on the planet... I doubt his attitude... He looks so lazy.. some people in spain believe he trains only when he wants too.
