One of The Lisbon Lions died today. He was great player, all the old yins will remember him. I recall Celtic played Estudiantes in The World Club Championship, the Argentinians were and still are the dirtiest and most cynical side I've ever seen. They kicked lumps out of Johnstone who took all they had and still came back with great courage. He went down the line with the ball and stopped to grab the leg of a Estudiantes player who was writhing around with yet another imaginary injury, Jimmy promptly dragged him off the pitch and which point the Argie leaped up and wanted a fight  .

RIP Wee man.

A genius of a player and a gentleman, watched his video last week"Lord Of The Wing" and the skill JJ had was really out of this world.

Not sure if JJ is the second or third of the Lisbon Lions to die, Bobby Murdoch im pretty sure passed away not that long ago.

What a cracking little player. He was 5' 4" and 9 stone and got kicked all over the place but was still a magician with the ball. I heard a funny strory years ago about when they played Leeds in the late 60's. Terry Cooper their LB had been skinned by Jinky many times. Norman Hunter shouted "Just Kick him". Cooper said I have been trying why don't you. Hunter came steaming towards Johnstone ready to send him into row Z when Jinky nutmegged him and sent him on his @rse. Great little man idolized by Celtic Fans worldwide.

RIP Jinky

Although as a kid growing up in Liverpool I idolised the mighty reds, I still get goosebumps when I think of the first game that actually got me mad passionate about football. I was only 5 and my dad was at work and my mother was in next door's house leaving the TV as my babysitter. Live football was a real rarity in those days and I remember being fascinated by that year's European Cup Final between Celtic and Inter. What a game that was to an imprssionable 5 year old! Since that day, I've had total respect for Celtic and their marvelous fans but one player stood out above all and that was little Jinky Johnstone. What a player he was! He will be sadly missed.

RIP Jinky Jimmy.

I remember an article in some David Coleman-esque Book of Football I once owned in the 60's 'How the Lamposts of Glasgow Made Wee Jinky a wonder Winger' how he used to dribble the lamposts at the back of his Mum's house (still gaslights back then) with one of those hard, waterlogged old leather balls without the bal touching the lampost, the kerb or the wall next to it - all at speed.

One of my earliest favourite players - amazing how many of that team are going before their time.

RIP Jinky.
