Guest Les Howard Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 He did exactly the same in the Euro's For England against France, from the same position. If Xabi hadn't have been sent off - he'd have been available for the pass.
Guest RedLegend Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 (edited) He picked him out beautifully and the execution was exquisite. Edited March 12, 2006 by RedLegend
el_berto Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 Shame we couldn't move like that the other end of the pitch!
chrisbonnie Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 give the fella a f***ing break plays out of his skin for us week in week out, he makes 1 mistake, granted, a costly one and he gets slated, f*** sack lads, grow up
Guest Red Mist Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 Dont blame Stevie, blame Bennet for sending Xabi off. Stevie had nowhere to go and panicked. Wouldn't have happened had Alonso still been on the pitch.

Is right, Stevie was probably our best player despite being nowhere near his best.Bennett f*ck up yet again, to eager to appease the home team.
pricey Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 Will I get points in fantasy football for the assist???
Herbie von Smalls Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 it was a shocking mistake from gerrard. such an elementary faux pas and he knew it as soon as he'd hit the pass. kick up the ass from rafa for handing them the three points. still, stevie being stevie, i'm sure he'll play out of his skin on wednesday and turn in a masterful performance.
Earl Hafler Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 How many ' masterful ' performances have we seen recently ?
Guest Kev Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 What other pass was on for Stevie ? Yes it was his fault but he couldn't find a white shirt to pass to, what happened to giving the player on the ball some options ? The only option we have is to hoof it up to Crouch and watch it come back 2 seconds later.
Swipe Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 How many ' masterful ' performances have we seen recently ? Considering some of the s*** he plays alongside, I think we can give him some slack.

The only option we have is to hoof it up to Crouch and watch it come back 2 seconds later. That's a silly thing to say. So he should pass it to the keeper who would blast it 60 yards only to watch it come back 2 seconds later? It was a stupid mistake. He could have done any number of things in that situation.
Kite Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 (edited) I don't think I've seen Stevie hit so many poor passes as today. Then he goes and hits that one perfectly, so to speak. Very poor game all round from two of our stalwarths, Stevie and Carra - Carra was all over the place at times. Edited March 12, 2006 by Lenin
Guest Kev Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 I thought Finnan absolutely stank today, nowhere near Henry for the goal and his overall play was poor.
Cam Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 Shame we couldn't move like that the other end of the pitch!True. You just know that if Silva had presented the exact same chance to any of our forwards (barring Garcia) that they'd have missed. And missed badly.
Guz Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 Gerrard, Finnan, Carra, Xabi and Didi were all s*** today. Thats the core of our side underperforming. Got no chance after that.
redjersey Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 Dont blame Stevie, blame Bennet for sending Xabi off. Stevie had nowhere to go and panicked. Wouldn't have happened had Alonso still been on the pitch. Stevie was under no pressure and he certainly didn't panic. It was a composed but atrociously bad back-pass - nothing to do with the ref.
Earl Hafler Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 I thought Finnan absolutely stank today, nowhere near Henry for the goal and his overall play was poor. First time i've seen Henry consistently get the better of Finnan and everyone around him was having a poor game.
Kindred Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 Seem to remeber fowler doing something similar a few years back. Might have been a cup game. He came back to help out, robbed a player of the ball and played a beautiful through ball for their forward to run onto and score!Even god can make mistakes!

He came back to help out, robbed a player of the ball and played a beautiful through ball for their forward to run onto and score!Even god can make mistakes!I think that was against tranmere
Billy Dane Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 Hope Rafa shows the video of the goal to our strikers - "look this is what you do when Stevie passes the ball into the box..."
Kindred Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 I think that was against tranmere I think it was either them or Wycombe. Have a vague recollection of them being in blue, but might have made that up!
Elisha_Scott Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 How many ' masterful ' performances have we seen recently ? Poor comment.
Guest Anders Honoré Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 Anyone else read the subtitle of this thread as "Steve Pass" and think "oh f***, here we go again"? Nearly had a heart attack it was such a blast from the past. lol - where is fowler's bessie mate now?
