Someone made a point in another thread about resting senior players for the Newcastle game so we can concentrate on the brummy FA cup game. Although the numbers mentioned were a bit silly the idea certainly wasnt. IMO some continued success would be a very welcome boost. Couple an FA cup victory with a second place finish in the league and you could look upon that as definite progress from last season, domestically. Also a day out in cardiff would be nice.

On another note, if Wembley was ready for next seasons charity shield after we won the FA cup Didi could make a little piece of history for himself if he was to be the first to score since its reopening!

At this rate, we'll be lucky to keep 4th place

We are not scoring. Sinple as. Some rub of the green would be nice but maybe Schevchenko gave us a whole 18 holes worth last May

The lads are tired - mentally. The next league games, and hopefully few in the cup are going to be a real grind. I am , for the first time this season, worried. We CAN play very well, and pull teams apart. However, our strikers not scoring means that if we don't convert the chances (see Wednesday night) we get tired, tempo and confidence drops and we concede.

Actually, fourth place at best is what we'll get. The league table doesn't lie. And that means we don't qualify for the European Championship if Arsenal win it this season.

So I'll be supporting Juve..

Does everybody think Spurs will catch us?? ;)

i dont think so, they still have to play man utd, arsenal and bolton thus making their fixtures tougher than ours. guessing whether arsenal is going to win champs league is a little premature now, i think their defence is still pretty shaky so the jury is still out.

i'm immensely worried about our team though. we arent scoring through our strikers (even when its handed to them on a plate) and thats indirectly affecting the team on a whole. add that to the fact that everyone is pretty exhausted from this season's campaign, i just hope we have done enough to secure at least a top four finish. :(

We are third 6 pts clear of Spurs and 8 pts clear of Arsenal.

2nd place is probably gone now but 3rd place is definitely achievable. Arsenal are even worse than us away from home and still have to go to Stamford Bridge and Old Trafford.

I thought the rules had been changed and that finishing in the qualifying places was the only criteria now?

The rules have been changed to allow the holder to defend the title if outside the qualifying places. The last qualifying place is lost in that case. Everton would have lost out this season if the new rules were in force at the start...
