magneto Posted March 11, 2006 Posted March 11, 2006 Sorry for sounding a bit ignorant but why didnt the HJC lodge a complaint the day the fixtures were made?
Steve101 Posted March 11, 2006 Posted March 11, 2006 Right, this might upset a few, and thats not the intention, but here goes. Surely the most fitting tribute to the 96 is the team playing football? The world keeps turning, and while the fight for justice should never stop until that aim is achieved, I'm not sure not playing means anything. And yes, I was affected by Hillborough in many ways in case anyone asks. Can anyone tell me if Man United, Juventus, Bolton, Rangers or Bradford play on thier respective aniversaries?

I agree Steve101 - I can't say i was directly affected by Hillsborough, but I do feel for any one who lost a relative/friend there, as well as the person who lost their life. By no means do I mean to offend any one but I believe there is nothing more, not sure if this is the right word to use but, satisfying to see what 30,000+ people in one stadium with both teams around the centre circle all in a minutes silence, or better yet a minutes applause. I agree the match should not be played away and would maybe have been more fitting at Anfield but the event happened at a football match and the best way to pay respect to that is to play a football match.
MikeK88 Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 (edited) You're unlikely to offend anyone, but many people want to go to lay flowers at memorial services, leppings lane or cemetaries or just want to be with their families on that day though. I for one don't wish to be anywhere near a football crowd on the anniversary, at Anfield or anywhere else. The kick off is at 5:15 at blackburn and memorial services are at 3 O'Clock, Blackburn is possibly 20 - 30 minutes away from Liverpool? I don't really see the problem. Those who turned up at Hillsborough and unfortunately lost their lives turned up to see a game of football, something they loved. What better way to pay your respects than doing something they would of loved to of seen. EDIT: Ok, AA route planner says it's 55 minutes, but my point still counts. Edited March 12, 2006 by PiGH

MikeK88 Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 If you take the train/bus you can still get to Blackburn? I just believe Liverpool should play on April 15th as their mark of respect.

Your reckoning has the service FINSIHING at 3 o'clock but it doesn't. As anyone who's ever been will tell you, the main factor is the significance of 3-06, the time the ref blew his whistle at Hillsborough. Then there is the prayers and the comunal singing so the people drift away at 3:30, 3:40 or so. Then, assuming you drive, have a car within a few minutes walk of Anfield and the roads are clear, you ain't getting away from Liverpool until 4 o'clock at the earliest. Assuming normal match day traffic on the M65 near Ewood Park, you are going to be stuck or slowed there in a jam while conscious of the time. The traffic volume on 15th April 1989 was a factor and this is repeating the same situation. Then, assuming you can find a parking space within an easy walk of Ewood Park, (difficult at the lateness now of your arrival) you make your way into the stadium and sing your lungs out in joy after the sombre occasion you've just left? Get Real.
oakie bob Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 If you take the train/bus you can still get to Blackburn? I just believe Liverpool should play on April 15th as their mark of respect.sorry but as someone who was there that day and carried off dead Liverpool fans on advertising boards we should never play that day, its disgusting and i work with members of the HFSG who dont listen, Rick Parry and David Moores do not care about the fans and the reason why we should not play that day..............I will be at Anfield that day, where will Rick Parry and David Moores be at 3:06 pm
oakie bob Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 blackburn play on the wed after our game, why cant our game be moved till 4pm on the sunday to keep sky happy, this is a disgrace by liverpool and blackburn and sky. We should put pressure on the club and players to move this game now
FakeNewsBear Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 why are we forced to play the blackburn game on the 15th...... if blackburn dont have a game until the 19th we dont play until the following saturday and their is a spot open for a 4 oclock game on sunday to keep it on sky and if you say easter sunday is a religious day why is there a birmingham derby on that day and i swear to f*UCKING christ if anyone says its in the past/ we should move on i'll f*cking explode
dunner74 Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 I cant see why it cant be changed to the 14th. It is disgraceful.
FakeNewsBear Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 i think this is nt getting enough attention........ if this was man usa , arsenal or chelski we would never hear the end of it
oakie bob Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 its time to let this club know that they are out of order..........there is no excuse not to move this game now
oakie bob Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 Sheff wed have moved there game till 3:15 that day due to HJC contacting them, Liverpool and blackburn should take note
FakeNewsBear Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 surely someone else just one person feels strongly about this subject......or have you all just started supporting us cos we won the european cup
oakie bob Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 why a 142 people have viewed this...............15.04.89 means nothing to you
FakeNewsBear Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 i am gonna post the number 96 until i fall asleep to keep this near the top until someone voices their opinion
