Liverpool fans are fans of the week on Soccer AM

Lovejoy's done it deliberately to get back at us for Cardiff. There must have been groups of lads/lasses from Liverpool addresses on the list but he chose a group from ...somewhere else, as if to say, "Look, it's true, all Liverpool fans are from outside Liverpool." And the soft gets went along with it.

I missed the start of the programme so I don't know for sure whether they announced where they were from or not. The bunch of lads were exciteable and at times too noisy for the sound levels of the programme and yes, the singing of "5 Times" was a bit flat. But so what?

You know, I may be 53 and more than likely classified as an "auld get" by some of you Young Turks but the proliferation of the old women who jabber-jabber about age-old myths concerning tha fan base is unbelievably embarrassing.

The arrogance with which everyone else but themselves are easily dismissed and disparaged is sickening. The sneering hypocrisy that drips from the lips of these people ten minutes after they have sentimentally sung YNWA is gut-wrenching.

Those Liverpool fans on Soccer AM may or may not have been the best fans in the world from the club that boasts the best fans in the world title (!) but who do the keyboard warriors on here think they are to pass comment on complete strangers so easily? Who's to say, apart from themselves, whether they would come across as great fans or not?

At the penalty game on the programme those self-same fans who were enjoying themselves having a laugh much in the same way that anyone of us would do in the same circumstances unfurled a banner that they had carried around Europe since 1977. The banner was a composite flag of different teams we had met in Finals the length and breadth of the continent. I can't say (unlike other stone-throwers in a glasshouse on here) whether they are the best representatives of the best fans in the world but "good luck to 'em", I say.

Pity 90% of hem are f***ing w*****s who mjust red-bag it, keep quiet all game and take pictures of "stevie g"on their camera phone when he takes a f***ing corner. Nothing wrong with OOT's who support the team but those people are a f***ing disgrace.

have you been to a PL match recently?

atmosphere is utter s****... so thats the 'wools' fault then is it? nothing to do the with thousands of regulars in the Kop?

I certainly had no problem with them. They were passionate. They showed flags and were better than a lot of fans who have been on there.

The 30000+ season ticket holder's brave songs are drowned out with a torrent of silence by the day-trippers. Obviously.

As harsh as that may be i agree. Last week i had a bunch of d****eads mouthing off every time Djimi, Crouchy, or Cisse touched the ball. You useless b*****d this, you f***ing waster that. If you are not there to support the f***ing team then f*** off back home and slit your f***ing wrist you piss ant.

you know what those dic**eads have every f***en right to mouth off because they paid to get in the ground... Im sick of this holier than thou attitude.. If there were better fans than those in the ground they would be in the stadium.. Im sick of cyberwarriors having a go at OTT fans..

I didnt dispute the fact that they have every right to be there. My point is if you are going there for a day, or whatever it may be, then you should be there to support the team, no matter who is wearing the jersey. The team is to be supported not berated.

Doesnt matter if you are there for a day or a season ticket holder. To shout abuse at the players is wrong and helps no one. Different argument altogether though.

traore got/gets slagged off because he's f***ing w***.

you do realise, that this isn't unique and has happened throughout the world since the very first spectators watched football in 1800 and something don't you?

what do you people expect?

Posted (edited)

The simple facts are that only big games at Anfield have the special atmosphere.. Roma, Chelsea, Juve and Man United would testify to that facts.. Its not the OTT or daytrippers who are responsible for the atmosphere.. its the change in mentality of the fans or the great atmosphere of the past is a nostalgic myth.. The rubbish spouted here is embarassing..

Firstly t1971 is correct, this probably is a difference argument.

Whether a player is w*** is a matter for debate outside a football ground. Once inside a supporter should support them. Shouting abuse at one of your own players only serves to rattle them and can in some cases make them play worse. Igor Biscan used to get ironic cheers every time he would receive the ball. What the f*** is that? If they are wearing the liverbird then, once inside the ground they deserve your unwarranted support.

unbelievable...

so its only OOT'ers that moan at the match then?

I was sat surrounded by scousers in Upper Centenary on Wednesday and I had never heard such negativity thrown at our players in the years I have been going to the match... granted it came from the same crowd of people..

its not just OOT'ers that slag off the teams..

back on topic, the guys on Soccer AM did a good job of representing us, flags, songs etc..

most significantly they wore HJC stickers and also sang the Gary Mac song....

I just think some on here are jealous they never got to go on there...

;)

agree.. The so called malaise of slagging players of not restricted to OTTers.. I was yesterday at the youth cup and heard a guy slag of Antwi all game.. Im pretty sure he wasnt a OTTer.. I saw bits of the fans and they wore HJC stickers, sang songs and were in no way a disgrace.. Anyone who is ashamed of them need to look at themselves and work on their flaws especially the mental one of inferiority complex..

I'm an arl a*** as well. I couldn't see any harm in these lot having a laugh. They sang "Five Times" properly, even if it was "flat" so what? No harm in them. People moan about getting investment-if we attracted more OOT support (either in or out of the ground on matchdays) we would have more money.

The fact is if you'd tried to get a bunch of what the clique would deem "acceptable" fans on there saying Boycott Blackburn and Michael Shields is innocent it would never get broadcast.

Get over it. It's light hearted banter. Lovejoy was a Watford fan and the "Easy" chant annoys me but whatever.

At least they showed Terry getting nutmegged.
