Guest storme Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 same position that Gonzalez plays, good skillful player Not quite, he is a left back by trade
sbaros Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 From what I've seen of him he's a very good player, haven't seen him play very often but still a few times, from what I saw he was very very good in attack, Carlos'ish. Haven't seen him being tested in defence but from what I've heard he's a very good player, wether he would fit in here and wether he would be better then Riise in his form over the past few weeks i don't know but he's much better then Traore and Warnock for sure. A goal scored by him in a 3-0 win against Mallorca, hardly a fab goal but the only thing i could find
kenny7 Posted March 11, 2006 Posted March 11, 2006 Then would this mean Traore and/or Warnock are on the way out? I'd like to have seen us put a bid in for baines but if Aurelio is on a free that has a lot of baring considering we need to focus on right mid and centre forward.
CaptainXabi Posted March 11, 2006 Posted March 11, 2006 How old is he?26 or 27. Good deal if it comes through.
eth Posted March 11, 2006 Posted March 11, 2006 Anyone know if he's played for Brazil or makes it into their squad? He seems an attacking full back but would be interesting to know what he's like defensively. Here is a link to some of his goals on You TubeThere are some pretty stunning goals from JAR there as well.
Guest Walter Sobchak Posted March 11, 2006 Posted March 11, 2006 Whenever i see his name I think Gay!
Guest jcreds Posted March 11, 2006 Posted March 11, 2006 Carlos has a Spanish passport now, even Julio Baptista does as well. It helps Real play all their Brazilians. It was reported that Baptista turned down Arsenal because he wanted to stay in Spain (for a few more months) in order to obtain an EU passport.
Jezzman Posted March 11, 2006 Posted March 11, 2006 Aurelio came on as a sub tonight against Madrid and did well I think. Good free kick opportunity etc he's a good player...
tomas Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 From here Greeks in for Reds targetBy Fotis Voinikas - Created on 14 Mar 2006 Olympiakos are ready to rival Liverpool for the services of Fabio Aurelio in the summer. The Valencia defender is a free agent and is expected to receive a number of offers as clubs take advantage of his Bosman status. Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is a long-term admirer of the Brazilian, who arrived from Sao Paulo in 2000, a year before the Spaniard took over as coach at La Mestalla. Greek sources claim the Merseysiders are ready to offer around ?2 million (£1.38 million) per year to the 26-year-old, who twice won La Liga with Valencia and also the Uefa Cup. Olympiakos have been alerted by the fact that the South American now holds an EC passport, although Barcelona and Real Madrid are also reportedly waiting in the wings. Benitez has made a habit of raiding La Liga for fresh blood and knows Aurelio's abilities well.

tomas Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 If Rafa wants him, no way will he go to Olympiakos ahead of us. Would be strange if he would choose Olympiakos ahead of us. As you said if we are interested we should have a good chance of signing him.
Kindred Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 (edited) cLINK Bascombe. LIVERPOOL are planning a summer swoop for Valencia left-back Fabio Aurelio. The Brazilian international is available on a Bosman transfer and Reds boss Rafa Benitez is keen on discussing a move with his former player. Aurelio is free to sign a pre-contract agreement with any club. He would be the first Brazilian to sign at Anfield. The 26-year-old was part of the Valencia squad which won two La Liga titles and a UEFA Cup under Benitez. Benitez's interest in Aurelio underlines his ongoing commitment to strengthening Liverpool's playing staff ahead of next season. The attacking defender, who is a set-piece expert, is likely to become the third recruit of the coming close season, with Chilean winger Mark Gonzales and Argentinian defender Gabriel Paletta already signed. Last month wing-back Aurelio said he could not be certain that he would still be playing his football at the Mestalla next season, after contract negotiations failed to progress. CarraLegend Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 This will be great. him on a free and Paletta completes an 8 man defence then could maybe make a mill or two for Traore and Warnock and we can then spunk everything on right wingers/strikers. I like it.
Lee W Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 (edited) This will be great. him on a free and Paletta completes an 8 man defence. Then re-sign Owen and Heskey and it'll be just like the GH days all over again. Edited March 14, 2006 by Lee W

Raj Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 i think this is pretty much nailed on. a hell of a lot of rumours flying around about this. gonzalez, paletta and aurelio for approx £5million in transfer fees. seems like good business.now the hard part of getting the right winger and strikers we need.

I thought the three of them were free transfers ? I can't remember now.
Raj Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 £5 million ? I thought the three of them were free transfers ? I can't remember now. my understanding is that the fees are like this - Gonzalez - £3 millionPaletta - £2 millionAurelio - Free
Lee W Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 Gonzalez £1.5M Any news on this fella Aurelio, Torby ?
Raj Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 Gonzalez £1.5M If true, I stand corrected and will be even more made up 3 players that will improve the squad for budget prices. i've seen aurelio play a few times and is a decent left back.Gonzalez will definitely offer us something different, with his pace and touch. Not seen Paletta, but he's an Argie defender and as long as he's quicker than the last Argie defender we had here, we should be ok. Also, enables us to spend more money on the 2 strikers and right winger we need.
