Liverpool goalkeeper Scott Carson has joined Championship side Sheffield Wednesday on loan for a month. The deal is effective from today.

The 20-year-old travelled to Hillsborough today and final clearance should now come from the Premier League this afternoon. The former Leeds keeper will reinforce an Owls back line that has had only one senior goalkeeper since David Lucas injured his knee ligaments at Millwall last month. Carson has made nine appearances for the Reds, including two Champions League outings this season, and will wear number 22.

Will be good for him to get some game time.

The LFC Bank - how many players have we out now? Is this an indictment of the GH era in a way, irrespective of the fact Carson is a Rafa buy?

Well would Dudek go there ? I doubt it.

Some will read it as "gaining experience".

Some will read it as "loss of revenue from getting knocked out of the CL and we need to reduce the wages"

If another player goes on loan soon, then the second reason will hold some clout.

I don't think sending Carson out is to reduce wages. He wouldn't be on that much. I think it's just cos he needs games to get him the experience to help him in his development as a keeper.

Once Jerzy did not leave during the transfer window it was a logical thing to do. Jerzy is good experienced back up for Reina and bar any more sending offs and injuries Carson will not get a sniff. It would be unfair to play him now that we are in the latter stages of the FA Cup and needing points from every game in the race for 2nd place. He will get much needed experience by playing more games.
