Mullah_Owen Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 i.e. blind loyalty to players who are simply not upto the task? Houllier did it with Cheyrou, Diao and Diouf. Rafa is doing the same with Morientes who clearly is not up to it anymore and is sh*tting our season down the drain with each game he plays.
Guest Sabre Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 I thought Diouf was up to it in terms of footballing ability. He's just a cúnt
Figaro Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 According to some Houllier stopped making mistakes when he left Liverpool... Maybe it's the club...
Tyler Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 Off Crouch - any of Garcia, Fowler, Cisse, Pongolle would do a better job IMO He is just not mobile enough. Not denying he was a great player but he is just not performing the role we need from a forward.
Guest xXx Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 Mellor and Pongolle should be nr. 1 and 2 next season...
Tyler Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 Mellor and Pongolle should be nr. 1 and 2 next season... at least they know where the goals are

Houllier barely played them at all. the problem was they couldn't adapt/weren't very good/was a total knob
Guest Kev Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 Every manager makes mistakes, they make good and bad decisions and good and bad buys. I can see some similarities, but Rafa has got less of a squad to work with and less money. I believe that the only reason Pongo went on loan is because we couldn't afford Robbie's wages. We have currently on loan: Cheyrou, Gonzalez, Medjani, Potter, Whitbread, Foy, Le Tallec, Pongo, Kirkland, Raven, Mellor and Diao - that's a complete team on loan and something Houllier never had. Granted many of them may not set the Premiership on fire or even come back, but most are pre-Ged days and Rafa has in his short space of time had to get rid of many of Ged's buys, replace team members and squad members under a limited budget. On the whole Rafa has done f***ing fantastic and he deserves reward in the form of a massive kitty in the summer to get the players he really wants.
AE Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 I think Rafa's squad is developing, meaning he can start to spend the money on a couple of key players rather than spread it across a number of 'squad' players.I would expect 3 / 4 arrivals, with 3 / 4 departures (Cisse, Dudek, Kirkland, Moro??) that will add to the first team. But there again, my only sause is HP.

He has little alternative wait until the end of the season. The board need to give him the money, Rafa has a reputation as being ruthless when he thinks things should be done.
Knox_Harrington Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 Houllier never even showed Cheyrou loyalty never mind blind loyalty.
Kite Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 On the whole Rafa has done f***ing fantastic and he deserves reward in the form of a massive kitty in the summer to get the players he really wants. He really wanted Morientes and he really wated Crouch. He got them both too, you may have noticed!!

That's true, I remember Bruno playing well and scoring against Wolves and Newcastle only to be dropped straight away. He really wanted Morientes and he really wated Crouch. He got them both too, you may have noticed!! Yes, indeed he did. But how many got away ?
Kite Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 Yes, indeed he did. But how many got away ?Ummmm! Maybe that's not a bad thing then if them two are anything to go by....??? Rafa played last night with exactly the strike force he himself bought (and spent highly on) and that was the focus of our failing afterall(totally just being devil's advocate here by the way, it should be noted)

Why i feel the need to point this out i have no idea but he's back now. I dont think rafa is being excessively loyal to mori. There's no one to really pick apart from garcia or going back to what we were doing at the start of the season. The mistake is in who he bought
Guest Red Mist Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 He could always try giving Cisse a go up front instead of Moro. They're both as bad as each other but Moro has had more than enough chances now and hasn't given us any goals in return, it's time for Rafa to give another one of our hopeless strikers a game up front with either Crouch or Fowler.

Guest Red Mist Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 Cisse has had the occaional flash of above averageness, which Moro hasn't. So it might be worth giving him a go in the hope he could reproduce those rare flashes and goals. We are going nowhere with Nando and it's only fair that someon else is given a chance to stake a claim.
wacko Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 Cisse is dire lad, beyond fixing..As a winger. That's something else Rafa does that makes no sense to me. Cisse is utter cr*p on the wing. He can't dribble and he can't pass. All he can do is run and shoot. As Morientes can do neither of those things, and we're dominating possession and creating chances, I'd say it's worth dropping him and giving Cisse a go.

I see what you're all getting at but ihs second touch on the ball is a tackle.. It's like playing "names" when he gets an awkward pass. Edited March 9, 2006 by Benzo-13
Maldini Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 Blind loyalty my boll*cks! Who should we start instead? Cisse? The worst footballer in the first team squad, or Fowler who isn't fit yet? He's playing him because he has no option and because the guy is a hugely talented player who for some reason hasn't been able to produce for us.
Guest Anders Honoré Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 if you want to accuse houllier of blind loyalty, cheyrou, diao and diouf aren't exactly the first names that spring to my mind in that regard.
IgPig Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 3. Neither of them could sign an ACTUAL goalscorer What's Reina?
Nogsy Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 (edited) What's Reina? erm..... a goalkeeper!!!!! Edited March 10, 2006 by Nogsy
