I think today the number of games we have been forced to play cost us and caught up.. Our performance was of a team which looked knackered.. There was a lack of energy about our play which even when we have not played well has not been evident.. We missed Sami and Riise( some may not agree but hes the best attacking fullback we have on the leftside).. Its never good being knocked out of a great competition but we have had our time and winning it was the greatest night of my life as a Liverpool fan and getting knocked out is part of a learning curve..

Ill be there cheering the youth in the semis and hopefully a few of them like Hammill will graduate soon..

We are the greatest club in England on the way of reliving our greatest period again imo...

Lets win the FA Cup and finish 2nd..

We missed Sammi and Riise. If I hear another person going on about how JAR is a weak link I'll explode.

Other than that it was the usual. Nothing up front.

I thought we bossed the game and got caught twice. Nothing more. Alonso and Gerrard were great but others let them down.

I didn't see tiredness at all tbh just a team playing well not knowing how to bloody score.

I dont know whether you were at the game.. say compare this game to the ones pre January you could see the lack of energy..ofcourse not putting the ball in the back of the net adds to the mental fatigue.. Our players have not had rest since GH left...

Who cars about the players they get well rewarded, it's f***ing hard work watching, how about some sympathy for the fans? This will be a few more grey hairs.

the lack of goals must weigh heavy on the whole team. the inability to take a chance is affecting defenders, midfielders and attackers.

Carragher misses from a few yards out, Crouch misses from 10 yds out and Garcia blazes over from inside the box.

the mental stress will also have a detrimental effect on the physical side of the game.

the mental effect on the whole team is as plain as anything and we have 3 really tough league games coming up. 2 of the games at places we tend to struggle to do anything and the other a derby game with Everton.

and a little matter of a cup tie against a team we struggle to defeat.

the next few weeks will be very interesting.

so what's new? ;)

The current goal drought reminds of the season when Heskey joined (1999-2000?) and we were absolutely hopeless towards the end of the season. At least we're creating some chances now... What worries me though is that it's only early March and there's still a good two months left.

I don't agree with the fatigue argument

Didn't look tired in the 1st 2 thirds of the field.

Need to score when you are the best team. Simple basic principle of football.

Tiredness is one of the main factors. Rafa's system is highly dependent on fast combination plays with lots of off the ball movement. For the last 6 weeks it has been mostly lacking.

That's not the issue.

We've been making chances.

The symptom of what you describe here would be a lack of chances.

I think the only evidence of tiredness is the fact that the performance drops in the last 10-15 minutes.

Yesterday the performance dropped after they scored largely due to desperation and a lack of composure in my view.
