We started brightly and as has been the problem ALL season we don't stick our chances away which would have demoralised them and given us the incentive required to go on and win comfortably. We got desperate and slung it long. We were poor after the first 30. Schit appens, we've no right to expect to win any game easy in this competition. We need 2, possibly 3 front players, we're strong in the middle and defensive areas and have plenty to be cheerful on. That side have given us a fantastic ride in Europe of late, so give them a break.

I think thats a fair assessment. I was very proud of the lads overall. You can't win them all and it wouldn't be a healthy environment to play in if we expected to win every big European tie at Anfield just because of the noise and adrenalin. Sometimes you need a bit more, sometimes you need a forward to produce a bit of genius, sometimes just to stick away one of the easier chances, sometimes for the ref to give us a decision, sometimes though you can give it your all and still not make it. We were the better side and a bit unlucky.

Where are we overall though, improving and a force to be reckoned with but still light upfront and on the wings. Rafa will have the time to build the squad even further if he wants it.

speaking of which

well done to the home fans tonight.

Commentary mentioned "40,000 deflated fans at Anfield" just as YNWA started up at the end. Lovely positive finish from them that went. More than can be said for some on here.

Really? Save for Stevie and Xabi, I'm f***ing livid with the rest of them.

Excellent point, that's how to lose with class and dignity and makes us a hell of a lot more respected than certain other teams. Nice touch at the end as well with the fans swapping scarfs, rather than blows.
