He was diabolical in that second half and had to come off sooner. he was good first half.

Next time someone wants to start a thread about how it's not important for strikers to score, can they f*** right off?

He wasn't our worst player, Sammya. He didn't score but he did link play, even in the second half.

Some people hate his guts and become abusive but he shouldn't be starting.

If you forget his past and judge him solely on his time at Anfield - then IMO he's the worst striker i've seen put on a red shirt. Just so poor. He needs to go.

I'm also getting sick of Crouch and his tame efforts. That sitter in the first half was shocking

f***in ell who was then?

Luisao made some important clearances but only cos Morientes wasnt in the f***in place he shoulda been putting Luisao under pressure. Crouch made countless flickons where Morientes is (f*** half a yard) about 2 yards off the pace. Whats he even good at though? He doesnt win as many headers as he should, hes slow, he cant finish. I actually want to know what hes good at.

and Heskey scored goals.

He did?

Morientes has been Rafa's biggest mistake. A mistake he's made worse by sticking with him the same way Ged stuck with Heskey.

I can only hope and pray that at some point Rafa will wake up from whatever spell he's under and realise that just because Morientes used to be a good striker, doesn't mean he is now

If someone offers to take him off our hands for nothing in the summer we should simply ask when and where do we drop him off

I don't think I've seen us with such a blunt strikeforce. Crouch is not world class, but he has his attributes, he works his bollx off, but he is not good enough to do carry the attack on his own. He hides in the penalty box, he can't be arsed to chase down shots in case the keeper spills, he can't be arsed to attack crosses, to run into space (jogging slowly say "look I am trying honestly").

In all honestly I have not seen a worse striker play regularly for Liverpool than Morientes the last couple of months.

I am disgusted at Rafa tonight, first time I have ever been p*ssed off with him. All the things said yesterday about maureen's tactics, are true tonight. His persistance with Drogba, and Rafa's with Morientes. We need to score 2, and we play 70 mins with a striker that doesn't have the confidence to shoot (to give him 'pitch time' )

If he starts on Sunday, I will go spare.

I hope those players kick themselves for years over this.

Biggest match of the season, and they didn't even make a fist of it.

I was semi-defending him.

He couldn't be the worst player on the pitch because we picked Traore but in that second half (after a very promising first), he was hideous.

Genuinely beginning to think the strike force we had last year was better. Those lot saw it was part of their job description to score goals. This lot are mollycoddled into thinking lay offs are as useful. Where's their drive, instinct and guts to score goals. I know last years lot weren't stellar but look at Mellor's goal against olympiakos. All he wanted to do was be in a useful area to get that ball in the net when it broke and he hurled himself at it.

No one f*cking say that we don't need goalscorers and it's creativity thats the problem and no one f*cking cite valencia because when benitez had built his own side his striker got 24.

He always had the 'he's better in Europe' excuse but it's now plain to see that it would be best for both him and us to part ways in the summer.

Never hated a Liverpool player, not even Ince, but am beginning to resent Morientes. I know he's got the ability and it's not his fault that Rafa picks him, but I can't hate Rafa so what can I do. Cisse and Fowler should both be above him in the pecking order to partner Crouch. And in all fairness, Flo.

Hope he brings him to Madrid ;)

R5 have started their campaign for Rafa for Real. If anything, we were the only team to go out more tamely than Madrid. It is naive to presume that all Madrid's galactico problems are gone now Perez has left.

Not fair we could have scored 6 tonight. The problem is when you are creating chances and not scoring them eventually the opposition sort themselves out. You can't create clear chances for 90mins. Hold up play my f*cking a***.

Rafa's 'obsession' with Mori will end in the summer. Cisse and Mori to be moved out. At least one top striker to come in, and if we can afford it, I hope Rafa buys 2 strikers to form a new first choice partnership.

Crouch to be used in away games and as an option off the bench. Robbie to stay as well, though not as part of first choice pairing.

Had we had world class strikers tonight, we would have scored at least 5 or 6 goals.

Gutted.

But, Anfield did it's best. You who were there should be proud of yourself.

Well thats if Rafa is here this summer, after tonight the odds on him leaving are shortening

Really don't think Traore was that bad, and in the second half he save our skins several times. Just because the commentator says "he got away with that" a couple of times, doesn't mean he was ever actually in trouble. He was last man a couple of times and comfortable made the right decision each time.

I don't reckon Traore is a great defender, or even a long term back up, but he was not at fault tonight, you want to blame someone, blame Rafa for his blunt attacking tactics.
