Scally Bob Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 (edited) I went to the JJB last night on a bit of a corporate jolly. A good mate of mine is a Manc but he's a decent lad (goes to all homes and some aways) so I got the tickets and he paid for it all. We were in the West Stand (on the right of the away fans) close to the Mancs. The minute's silence started well and some Mancs had pictures, presumably of the soldier for whom the silence was being held, and held them up. The lad was from Manchester and had a connection with Wigan. He had been killed in Iraq. The silence was broken by a few Mancs. I couldn't hear what they were singing but it wasn't "Murderers". The ground wasn't full so despite their arrogant song that Wigan fans had "Only come to see United" not as many came as when the ground record attendance was set a few weeks ago against the European Champions. There were hardly any Mancs mixed in, or if there were they kept quiet. Their songs were pathetic. Songs about us ("Murderers" got an airing) City and Leeds. I think they sang something about Chelsea as well but I couldn't make it out. When they equalised they all burst into that Nationwide-style song that people like Boro sing. They also sang about Best, Cantona and Keane: very forward-looking. They also sang that they had a side of their ground that's bigger than the JJB. Big deal. And they sing they won it two times without killing anyone. Idiots. After the match we went for a pint and there were two of them from Belfast who reckoned they go everywhere. These beauts had left at half time because the Mancs were playing so poorly! I honestly couldn't think of what to say to them so I followed my instincts and ignored them. All in all they were like a visiting Nationwide set of fans, but at least I could hear them unlike in the Cup a couple of weeks ago. Gutted about the result. Wigan deserved a point at least but they were a bit naive when they were in front. Edited March 7, 2006 by Scally Bob
Paul B Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 Apparently, they were singing "We've still got our pride. We've still got our pride. We've won it two times,But nobody died" And I heard from someone near them in the Main Stand at Anfield they were singing; "We won it two times,We won it two times,Without killing anyone,We won it two times."
Knoxy Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 I think it's fair to say they're rattled We've broken them
anny road Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 they also sing "Hes gonna go blind He's gonna go blind Momo Sissoko He's gonna go blind"
Paul B Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 they also sing "Hes gonna go blind He's gonna go blind Momo Sissoko He's gonna go blind" You've got to hand it to them, they really are class
Ostrich Man Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 I think it's fair to say they're rattled We've broken themif we're "broken" as you put it...id say its more to do with the league.....so chelsea and a*** would have the bigger claim. but you go ahead and think we're broke.....we'll see. as classy as any set of fans who sang about alan smiths leg and munich. yeah youre all so f***ing classy........idiots
anny road Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 if we're "broken" as you put it...id say its more to do with the league.....so chelsea and a*** would have the bigger claim. but you go ahead and think we're broke.....we'll see. as classy as any set of fans who sang about alan smiths leg and munich. yeah youre all so f***ing classy........idiots I think there is a difference between Smiths leg/Sissoko.......and the repeated singing of Hillsborough/Heysel songs by United fans at away games... If we sing Munich at aways every week I am sure there would be murmurs about it

I dont like it at all
stressederic Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 Personally, I don't think we can claim credit for breaking United, and neither can Chelsea. It was Arsenal and Wenger.

Guest Jack Bauer Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 I also got told (someone sitting in anny upper) they were singing this about Hillsborough "You killed your own fansYou killed your own fansat hillsboroughyou killed your own fans" f***in g*******s.

Spike Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 I have never heard the shipman song or munich at a game where we haven't been playing your lot. You sing about us irrespectively OM, even making up new chants to entertain your petty minds and to be aired at such games as wigan. Therein lies the difference.
Guest Ant Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 (edited) Man Utd Fans just need to shut up they are making a pigs a*** of them selves. 5-2 FOREVER IN OUR SHADOW Edited March 7, 2006 by Ant

Cheesecake Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 Personally, I don't think we can claim credit for breaking United, and neither can Chelsea. It was Arsenal and Wenger. Arsenal earnt it. Chelsea bought it. and in doing so 'broke' every one else.Yes the Ar$e have spent big in some instances but it was controlled and relative to other teams more equal - their pursuit of Man Yoo was more admirable than Chelseas on that basis. I have a lot of respect for Arsenal. If any team other than us were the win the CL then I'd be happy.I do think that their (MU) constant singing about us is bordering on the desperate and jealous - 'we cant match them but lets be derogatory in any way' type of thing They should have more respect. But they dont. Telling in many ways I guess. Blood brothers with the blues****.
Spike Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 oh so THATS the difference......yeah....oozes class spike.thought i on read here the smith song got a few outings at benfica. Bit of a difference there lad, Benfica was straight after we beat you. you sing that trollop regardless of who and when you are playing. the JAR song hasn't had an airing at any game since the FA cup that I've been to and if any smalltimers have had a go at it they have been shouted down. Perhaps the difference is really that you're smalltime irrespective of the ocassion. BTW, Finnan was cleared of the racist shyte in case your rose tints meant that you hadn't red it and for one Alan smith song you make up two variations on 5 times plus the Momo song. At least ours was in reaction at the time. Not one to argue but it's like manslaughter Vs pre-meditated murder if you want comparisons.
Cunny Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 (edited) this is two bald men fighting over a combif either one claims the moral high ground, it's rank hypocrisy there are w*****s on both sides willing to sing about Heysel/munich /hillsborough for those of us with a brain lets keep it to footballI have quite a few mates who are mancs and contrary to popular opinion they are not c****! Edited March 7, 2006 by Cunny
Ostrich Man Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 (edited) thats all im saying cunny.....claiming the moral high ground because you only air those songs when we're playing you is pathetic....especially as ive said before you were airing songs and making signs celebrating our tragedy/deaths throughout the 70s and 80s and into the nineties....but i suppose you only did that when playing us...therefore thats classy and soooo unscummy. fact is if hillsborough or heysel hadnt happened youd still be doing the munich things and view them as just a laugh....but now tragedy has hit your club and somebody sings songs about it...it suddenly becomes the sign of the scum.....hmmmmm. "but we only do it when we play you".....so f***ing what..... ill make it perfectly clear...i do not approve of those songs by any side....it pisses me off we sing em when we're not playing you...but the fact is you should never have dished out for years and years something you were unwilling to take back. Edited March 8, 2006 by Ostrich Man
anny road Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 1. Munich songs, for whatever reason, are not sung by the majority anymore......2. Hillsborough songs are tahts the difference.....can you not see that? You are talking about something which USED to happen...I am talking about something that is happening regularly now at your away grounds of course there is a difference
Knoxy Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 if we're "broken" as you put it...id say its more to do with the league.....so chelsea and a*** would have the bigger claim. but you go ahead and think we're broke.....we'll see. as classy as any set of fans who sang about alan smiths leg and munich. yeah youre all so f***ing classy........idiots I disagree Us winning the European Cup in May was a disaster for your fans. As well as seeing your rivals enjoy such glory, it all but ended your hopes of overtaking us in the honours stakes. Something that was a realistic ambition for many whilst you were the best team around. That on top of the Glazer business, and admittedly, the fact that Chelsea have overtaken you, have left you in an unfamiliar position in comparison to recent years. And to top it all off, we knocked you out of the FA Cup. The one "worthwhile" trophy you could have realistically won this season Broken
Ostrich Man Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 so the majority of utd fans at old trafford sing hillsborough songs....over 32000 people? yes i can see the difference annie....and ive said it before i dontlike it being aired at all never mind away grounds.....but you gave away the moral high ground years ago by doing so.....if the likes of yourselves , leeds hadnt started singing songs taking the piss out of our deaths and continued doing so then they would not have become a "norm" unfortunately you did...and for a long time......you reap what you sow.....now unfortunately its become commonplace again. i agree they should stop it....but just as importantly...it should never have started in the first place. OM, Couldnt agree with the stuff in bold more. By the way, in the 80's I am pretty sure there was a shankly chant. Not 100 % but reasonably sure. Oh, 32,000 at OT chanted isnt that only half of the ground?
