Held the line, worked hard and put some half decent balls in, especially the one to Crouch. Be pleased if he plays like that from now until the end of the season. He's always going to frustrate everyone including himself but he showed some desire and quality which is a start. I'd use him there a fair few times from now until the end of the season.

2 good crosses, one for crouch and one that Moro should have been on the end of. Thought he did well, its funny, that was our tactic switch the ball to Djibs and then get him to attack, almost making him a focal point and he enjoyed it.

I was frustrated that it took him 80 minutes to start getting the better of spector.

Spector is no mug. He's been doing okay this season. I know this because I work with a Charlton fan who hasn't moaned about him for weeks like he has every other member of the squad. Incessantly.

Good on you Knox for the praise, Djibril doesn't get much ;)

Thought he did OK, his touch was better but he does need to learn, like Henry, to lure the defender into committing themselves before banging the ball past, much easier. Even just getting them on their heels, gives you a headstart. That ball into Crouch was exquisuite and something Stevie would have been proud of.

I know he's been a disappointment and I know he's lost most of the fans but little things like him encouraging the crowd make me love him sometimes.

you see.....if he showed the same effort as he did on Sat I wouldnt have an issue with him

I still dont think he is technically great but I thought he did his best on Sat

Agree.

I got in the car after the game and 606 was on and he was getting all sorts though.

Alan Green was battering him and all the liverpool fans rang up and complained about his work rate etc.

I don't think you can fault him for effort. He put it in on Saturday.

Ran him down first. then capitilise later. Almost like the munsters.

Don't really think he was that good. His touch and control were as dreadful as ever. Finally did what he should have been doing all match near the end. Can't find much to commend him for Saturday.

What?????

I watched him take passes of various ranges and from Reina, Carra, stevie, Kewell and everytime he stopped it dead. Work rate perhaps, control? Nah, not having that.

Ridiculous amount of having a go, for having a go's sake

Thought he had a good game... had a number of raking passes fied into him, especially second half and there was only one where he lost possession because of his control.

Impressed that Rafa kept him on Spector as in first half he seemed to be coming of second best, but as the game wore on in second half he was making room for the cross time and time again.

he applauded every pass to him that was slightly astray, rather than his usual stand and stare.

The cross to Crouch could not have been delivered better.

Not sure about his forward's tackle/foul that luckily resulted in a corner, but you can't moan about him not tracking back and then when he does (about 60yds....) ....

If he puts that much effort in every game..

1. He will create goals

2. He will start to win the crowd round

3. He will score goals...

Alan Green was being unnecessarily out of order towards Cisse on the commentary. He kept wishing for him to be subbed and kept mentioning how he couldn't believe other players were being subbed instead of him. Sounded to me like he was involved in a lot of good things.

Totally agree with the original post - I've been one of his biggest critics but he did well on Saturday, particularly as the game went on.

It's a start - now try and keep it up son...

Getting left out of the french squad was probably the kick up the backside he needed

Yeah like the half a dozen times he knocked the ball past the full-back, and knocked it past the linesman and the ball boys as well.

He doesn't want the son to set on his international career...

Alan Green's son?

Has he taken Cisse's place in the squad with a face/off style face transplant?

Posted

given that he doesn't get many starts and usually ends up out of his preferred position, i think cisse does well to slot into that right hand spot.

Absolutely. He even made space for the others by having himself doubled-up on. Apart from Fowler's dubious offside decision, despite playing wide right, Cisse was still responsible for the two best efforts we had.

Good on the lad - stick it out Djibs, show us what you can really do.

thought he was one of the best players. his first touch is good, controls most things first time. its what he does after that isn't always the best. However on sat he was frequently a danger, i think how much of the ball he got shows the faith in those around him. His crossing isn't the best but he'd probably never crossed a ball in his life till he came to Liverpool, and the one to Crouch was a peach

Spector has hardly played for charlton this season. Only recently as he got a run in the side.

Cisse should have done better against him, cos he had the ability easily to beat him.

But he's out of position, so don't want to be too harsh.
