Guest Kev Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 now 50/50. And even with a yes vote the club cannot get all the money together even with grants etc etc and is at least 4 -5 years away from being completed.
Guest Kev Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 You're full of good news tonight! I wish I was mate. Stories flying around today would make your toes curl.
Guest snez1 Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 I wish I was mate. Stories flying around today would make your toes curl. Do tell....
Guest Kev Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 Do tell.... Can't, been asked not to, they are all to do with off the field activities.........or rather lack of them.
Guest snez1 Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 Thank f***, thought it was to do with Rafa for a second.
Guest Kev Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 Thank f***, thought it was to do with Rafa for a second. Nope, his name never came up. The only good point of a very tiring and frustrating day and I've still got f***ing 10 hours to do in work
anny road Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 thank f*** i dont to move from Anfield so at least there is some good news today
Kindred Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 Anyone any ideas as to what plans B & C are, as mentioned in the AGM?
Michael Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 thank f*** i dont to move from Anfield so at least there is some good news today The trouble is that all this indecision is going to leave us further behind Chelsea, Man U, Arsenal and Newcastle financially. Their income from gate receipts is, or in Arsenal's case, will be far beyond what we can make and we will find ourselves picking from the second tier of transfer players each year,
Rushian Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 Anfieldson ParkGoodifield No and no ..... Knowsley and Sefton ....

They're certainly not going to be in a better financial state for a good while. And Man U , they're only about £500m in debt. Ok so it increases yearly income, but when you take into account the initial outlay it's not an obvious decision. Edited March 5, 2006 by eth
Joshytoohotty Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 Happy about this. I love Anfield the way it is, aside from the lack of atmosphere for league games but that won't improve in a new ground. Hopefully it won't happen.

If we joined forces with Everton the could pay for the refreshment stands then we would be 60% there

Their income from gate receipts is, or in Arsenal's case, will be far beyond what we can make and we will find ourselves picking from the second tier of transfer players each year, Why? Surely we could use the money we would save from not building a stadium towards buying players?

aka Dus Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 Fun for all the family. Anyone can play, literally.
Guest Si 105 Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 yeah yeah....as for Newcastle it really dowsnt matter if you dont win trophies We are competing with united now and they have 20,000 more spectators as it is Sometimes a club can lose it's soul now go and watch the Chelsea second leg from last season and come back and tell me again we should leave that stadium spot on .If all this means we stay at our rightful home,I for one will be a happy man.To state the bleedin obvious,if we move away there's no going back.Look how we all miss the standing Kop,we may have comfier seats if we move, but the atmosphere will never hit the hights it can still do now. Money and income seems to be everyone's main concern, but we're copeing very well now with the income we have, and as mentioned previously, we've still got our soul. We thrive on our history and ram it down every f*****s' face who cares to listen,so lets not knock our greatest asset down for a few extra bob.
bigdave50uk Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 I have an evertonian mate who keeps telling me that we dont own anfield anymore, that we sold it long ago and we lease it back of the owners. I dont believe him for a second, but can someone just confirm that we do actually own the stadium cheers

kop205 Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 The impact that atmosphere has on the team and result can sometimes be overstated but I defy anyone to tell me that the fans didn't play a huge, huge part in the Olympiakos, Juve and (particularly) the Chelsea games last year. I left the ground after the semi KNOWING that I had just contributed to that result, as did 40,000 or so other peolple. For me, Anfield as it is now is a bigger asset to us than a slightly larger ground would be. Just listen to the way that players (our own and those of other clubs) talk about the place. I think it is madness to chuck that away (and it would be chucked away) for the sake of 10,00 extra seats that would probably be empty for a fair few games anyway. I don't like the 'twelth man' tag or talk of retiring the no.12 because it is all a bit too self-congratulatory, but the fact of the matter is that there are times when the crowd have a bigger impact than any player can.

I'd say Man Utd in the cup this season as well. I left the ground after the semi KNOWING that I had just contributed to that result, as did 40,000 or so other peolple. Abso-tively!
Dave_the_Red Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 Anfield is past it, if we don?t move so will we. Long held the belief that we'll not be moving. Midtable obscurity here we come. As far as I?m concerned we have the best manager in Europe, my concern can we keep him? Will we be able to recruit another outstanding manager in the future with an old ground and limited transfer budget? Think people really need toy put their sycophantic nostalgia away, we?re going to die.
