Bootle Buck Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 Rafa clearly didn't want him to play and yet Stevie seems dead set on it. With Lampard pulling out there seem no real need for him to jeopardize his fitness to play with Carrick. Have a feeling Rafa will relegate him to the sub's bench Saturday. Stevie wants to play
anny road Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 firstly...I dont think Rafa's beef will be with Gerrard....it will be with the manager who picks him, you cant expect Gerrard not to play for england (as much as I loathe England) Gerrard...if fit will play on Sat

anny road Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 HE won't play if Rafa thinks he is too tired though. therefore he isnt match fit
Guest Si Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 He is starting, the line-up has been announced England team for friendly against Uruguay at Anfield on Wednesday: Paul Robinson (Tottenham), Gary Neville (Man Utd), John Terry (Chelsea), Rio Ferdinand (Man Utd), Wayne Bridge (Fulham), David Beckham (Real Madrid), Michael Carrick (Tottenham), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Joe Cole (Chelsea), Wayne Rooney (Man Utd), Darren Bent (Charlton) Source: BBC Sport
Andyjandy Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 therefore he isnt match fit Na, tis different.
Hundurinn Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 Lampard pulling out of the squad with minor injury... "how" convenient!!!
chrisbonnie Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 and whats the bets on Gerrard playing an absolute stormer against Uruguay with Carrick playing the stay behind, Stevie will storm forward, i hope that w***** Erikson only gives him the 45 minutes, fair is fair
anny road Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 Na, tis different. no it isnt if Rafa thinks Gerrard is too tired to start then he isnt match fit
Will Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 With Lampard pulling out there seem no real need for him to jeopardize his fitness to play with Carrick. Not that I really care abou tEngland, but there is no point Stevie playing with Lampard and every point him playing with Carrick
Andyjandy Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 no it isnt if Rafa thinks Gerrard is too tired to start then he isnt match fit Go and play with Cisse's mate, for I am not Biting
anny road Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 Go and play with Cisse's mate, for I am not Biting dont start that again it's another case of the tail wagging the dog
growler Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 thats probably the strongest line up for england I reckon.
sutty Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 Not that I really care abou tEngland, but there is no point Stevie playing with Lampard and every point him playing with Carrick That's b******s Will. It'd only be valid if SGE had the b******s to drop Lampard. Which he won't.
Cobs Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 That's b******s Will. It'd only be valid if SGE had the b******s to drop Lampard. Which he won't.and it's impossible for him to get injured or suspended in the WC?
sutty Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 and it's impossible for him to get injured or suspended in the WC? In which case his hand will be forced and he'll have to do it anyway. Doesn't matter how it works.
Cobs Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 and this way the players get bit of experience playing together before such an eventuality = it has some merit.
sutty Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 and this way the players get bit of experience playing together before such an eventuality = it has some merit. No it doesn't
Will Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 That was my point. Playing Lampard and Gerrard together in a friendly is utterly pointless. Playing other combinations at least has some merit. Rather he tried Lampard and Carrick this week, though....

sutty Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 that's just a bonus You haven't convinced me of the merit of this idea. f***ing hate England friendlies If he get's injured I'm going to burn down the greyhound. You've been warned.
