Nah, he'll be played at left-wing, right-back and then left-back just to see if Joe Cole or Jermaine Jenas can play in the attacking midfield role. you make out like othrwise he'd be rested up in bed between matches, if he wasn't with England he'd be training anyway. This is a friendly, he wants to play, it isn't going to kill him.

It's not like they haven't played plenty of games together this team, Cobs - against opposition from all corners of the globe. It's a waste of time and energy playing a player as experienced as Gerrard in a poxy friendly when you know that he possibly has 2 games a week coming from here til the end of April. You may as well play fringe players if you are going to play the experience against SA opposition card. At least it's actually valid.
