I am worried he has gone because they know Benitez wouldnt come while he was there.

Bloody hope not but I dont like the timing of this.

Maybe Benitez said he wouldn't go to Madrid until Perez is gone, and so he stepped down for the good of the club.

dont think its a pointless subject to discuss..

 

Hes a fantastic manager...

Has proven himself in the spanish league

Has proven himself in the champs league

has said he`d like to manage real madrid at some stage

And..of course the guy is spanish..

 

I cant see it happening..at this point in time, but its certainly one to keep an eye on

Benitez is not nearing the end of his managerial career. Why leave now when things are going so well here?

 

Balague has already rubbished them anyway saying Benitez wants to win the league here and I doubt Rafa's changed his mind just because Perez has left.

I don't see how anyone can be anything but worried about this to be honest - especially in light of the swift sidestep Rafa made to the latest speculation.

Rafael Benitez's agent insists the Liverpool manager has no intention of leaving the club at the end of the season despite being linked with the Real Madrid job.

 

Juan Ramon Lopez Caro has been given the job as Real coach until the end of the campaign and the Spanish giants are in the process of assessing potential candidates to take over in the summer.

 

But despite a story in Spanish newspaper Marca on Saturday linking Benitez with the job, his agent Manuel Garcia Quilon insists he has yet to be approached.

 

"Yes, I have seen Marca's front page," he said.

 

"I'm not sure if Real Madrid are interested in Benitez but I do know that they haven't made an offer."

 

Benitez is a former Real youth coach and does hope to one day return to the Bernabeu, but his agent confirmed the 45-year-old is happy to stay at Anfield for the foreseeable future.

 

"He has three years left on his contract," added Garcia Quilon.

 

"He's very happy at Liverpool because he has received very good treatment from the club and the fans, and his intention is to continue to improve on the project he started when he joined them."

not really a few ifs and buts though is it....

 

Wheres the concrete evidence I should start worrying then?

 

Do you know the who the new President is going to be and you know his plans for the next manager? You know Rafa thinks he isnt a bigger c*** than Perez? You know Rafa wants to go now despite the Madrid job being available all the time anyway? (Cant see that changing under a new bloke as their fans are so demanding anyway)

 

Theres f*** all concrete so i'm not worrying. He supposedly loves Madrid, so what? He loves it here aswell. He's supposedly said he'd like to manage them at some stage, so what? He'll probably be a manager for the next 15-20 years so he's got plenty of time. I'll worry when they make an official approach and Rafa announces he's going to discuss terms etc until then none of it bothers me.

as much as i respect Rafa and the work he is doing for us, i dont trust him............nor do i trust anyone else in football, i never take any coments as gospel..nor should anyone else, so there has been no concrete evidence about him leaving..

 

The only concrete evidence we have for him to stay is the 3 year contract.......and contracts mean nothing these days.

 

Our own steven gerrard actually considered leaving us for chelsea!! after going through that, anything else seems possible.

seems pretty obvious that when a club like Real Madrid come looking for Benitez.....no doubt in my mind that he has to be tempted.

I can't see Benitez going to Real for a good while yet. I think winning the Premiership with us is something he's set his heart on.

regardless of who's gone or who might replace them, real madrid aren't likely to alter their business strategy to the extent that the board has no input over first team policy.

 

the club has regained its financial fortunes by the galactico policy - something that is anathema to rafa, if his comments about signing 'the right players' at the latest LFC agm are to be believed.

 

real madrid is a global 'brand' (f***, do i hate that term in relation to football clubs!) and much of its to-ings and fro-ings are at the behest of sponsors and with a worldwide fanbase in mind.

 

rafa was quick to turn his back on valencia because of board interference - particularly as regards their transfer policy. he is at a world famous club with as much autonomy in his role as a manager/coach could hope for and while he may have an emotional attachment to real, he knows it doesn't get much better in terms of being an architect for the 'rebirth' of success.

 

under any other circumstances, i imagine it would be a tempting offer to return to his former employers, but he would have to compromise a lot of his own ideals and principles and toe the line. while he has achieved a certain degree of success in his shortish stint in top flight management, i'd say he hasn't warranted enough prestige to be able to call the shots at the world's richest club.

 

i wouldn't be surprised to see him return there later in his career, but i firmly believe he enjoys the freedom of moulding LFC to his vision of a great club.

 

to those with doubts, i say 'have some bloody faith, you doom-mongers' ;)

Scary isn't it? Xavi and Xabi in central mid...Joaquin and Vicente out wide...Torres, Morientes, Raul and Villa up front...

 

Their defense is a bit syhte though. ;)
