Sammi took a hammering from several players today and never complained once. Glad to see him get the Nando look-a-like at the end.

NANDO lookalike??? This is who that toothy fecker looks like:

Kromkamp was good today - he's got a good first touch, he's an intelligent player. As he gets to know the team, I think he'll get more involved and influential.

As I mentioned a while back, I'd seen Kromkamp play a few times for Alkmaar when visting family in Clogsville. Always looked the part, and along with a select handful of other Dutch or Dutch based players, I thought he could probably do a job for us, but didn't think about it too much.

Then when we bought him somewhat out of the blue, I thought the Josemi swap thing was a joke - I thought Josemi was a lot better and willing to give it the lot than most did - but Kromkamp I knew was a real player - good at RM or RB - but how would he adapt - three leagues in less than a season? He has tremendous upper body and thigh strength, sees things ahead of schedule like all really good dutch players and can park a ball on a sixpence - and yes, he's as hard as nuts. Do not be surprised if he weighs in with a few goals before seasons end, starts permitting - he likes a shot and is good at corners and freekicks with his head given a chance. He never seems to tire either. I think we have acquired someone who could have been tailor made for us.

Also Agger - a very few nervous moments today but what timing and passing! Once he's fully aware of what he can do in the team and what his colleagues are doing and thinking - he's going to be some buy too.

Good to hear Krompy is a tough twunt!

Oh no you don't. You are not gonna call any Liverpool player "Krompy".

What's next? Xabikins?

One of the good impressions Kronkamp made yesterday was his strength, the ability to hold depsite bumps and rumps from two or three opposite players around him. Touches are neat. Agger fared well, a couple of oddies aside. Both looks like good biz and if Kronkamp can settle in fast, even better.

Talking about corners, please don't let Gerrard take corners any more......once in a while is ok.... if Kronkamp is good at it give him the job!!

I only saw Barton's stamp on Sami's ankle, and that was bad enough

Made me laugh them booing Sami - of all players to boo - the most un-cheety-snidey player in the world is the one that got it

Thought the "same old scousers, always cheating" chant was hilarious as well. Not too bright, those City fans :D

Apart from the odd lapse/misunderstanding Kromkamp had a decent game, although a winger, he isn't.

At the moment Aggy and Krompy ;) are very useful second string players. Carra, Sami and Finnan are still way ahead in playing ability, but you would expect that given the huge gap in experience.

From what I've seen of Kromkamp so far, which admittedly is not that much, he doesn't strike me as a player who will ever be a regular starter, but I think he has enough talent to be a worthy member of the squad.

Thought agger was excellent in the first 45 and decent in the second half, quite impressed to be fair.

he looks about 124314 times better than that c*** Vidic

NO!

Gronkamp

Don't wanna start calling agger a real find after two games cos the flip side is calling him shyte if he'd had two bad games and people would be up in arms about that. Give him enough time to be good or bad

FWIW, his nickname at AZ was Kromper or Kromptje - it fitted in with some crappy song about tulips, clogs and windmills.

wtf us Van Basten on about

"It is annoying that Kromkamp, who is a good player, made the wrong choices for his career," van Basten told ANP.

"It is sad when someone throws away his own chances and also doesn't help us.

"It seems to us that Jan is more busy with peripheral events.

"Jan has to make choices. I have no influence on that but, if he wanted my advice, that was possible."

Van Basten has overlooked the wing back for the friendly with Ecuador and it is believed he is upset with the player for leaving AZ Alkmaar in the first place, for Villarreal last year.

From what I've heard, he's quite happy he's with us now - though is worried he'll play enough before the WC. He deffo thought the Villareal move was wrong, though AZ did want/need the dosh and couldn't keep him anyway.

Why did he think the Villareal move was wrong? They look like a decent team from what i've seen of them.

Because he couldn't speak Spanish? If he was already fluent in English seems a bit silly.

Liverpool's Jan Kromkamp has reacted to the criticism of Holland coach Marco van Basten.

Van Basten claims he is unhappy with the Dutch full back's 'career choices' believing the player has been unable to maximise his talent.

The former striking great was rumoured to have been particularly unhappy with Kromkamp's decision to leave AZ Alkmaar for Villarreal, the club he left in January to sign for The Reds.

And, although he has yet to announce his arrival at Anfield with an extended run in Rafa Benitez's first team Kromkamp believes he has made the right career move.

"I don?t want to say too much about it," said Kromkamp in AD Sportwereld.

"I just can only say that I have got the feeling, that for myself, I have made a beautiful step. I?m very fit and I feel very happy here."

Kromkamp refused to openly criticise van Basten for his comments and also revealed he is still harbouring World Cup ambitions.

"If the national coach would appeal to me, then I'm ready for it. And if he finds that others are better, then he has to take someone else. Of course I would love to go to the World Cup, but I can only wait and do my best."
