RedHarvest Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 Reina 8 MOMFinnan 7Sami 6Agger 6Riise 6Gerrard 7Kewell 8Kromkamp 6 Xabi 7 (pity he went off before they went down to 10)Morientes 6Crouch 7 Not a great performance apart from a brief spell before HT- it's a thin line between what we saw today and the Birmingham game.Still - 3 points towards knocking the Mancs off thier f***ing 2nd place perch.
Paul B Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 Reina 8Finnan 7Sami 7JAR 7Agger 5 HK 6Didi 6SG 8Kromkamp 5Mori 3Crouch 7 Overall team 5/10. That was as dire a football match as I've ever had the misfortune of watching. There was no surprise the fans boo-ed the decision to bring off Crouch instead of Morientes. That was as bad a performance as I've ever seen from a Liverpool player at Anfield. Some of the players in the penalty shoot-out at half time looked more impressive than him. Liverpool looked inept and why can we never capitalise on a one-man advantage? City almost did a Birmingham and no-one can really say they wouldn't have deserved it.

Gallagher Reina - 7 - he gives the defense much more confidence with his positioning and his quick feet attacking the ball as a sweperBack 4 - 8 - Solid game again from the back 4 with an assured game Agger!Kewell - 7.5 - Good game - great finish although I thought he took 1 touch too many!Alonso - 8 - for carrying on while he was still bleeding!Hamann - 6.5 - Gave the ball away a few times today very unlike him!Gerrard 8 - Great performance from the captain in his rightful position in the centre - let's hope he stays there!Kromkamp - 7 - Nothing spectacular buthing nothing wrong and some nice touches on a few occasions!Crouch - 8 - Fantastic back-heel that nearly went it, unlucky with the header and the half-volley and held-up play wellNando - 4 - Sorry but his time is up as a starter - it's 14 games without a goal and he's not even a threat, had a good chance after being put through by Hamann and hit it softer than my 10 week old son would have! Time to be dropped! Overall - 7 - Very dissapointed we didn't hit 3 or 4 past city today, even before Barton got sent off they where there for the taking but once again we fail to put a game to bed! Guest Red Death Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 Kewell and Reina got us the 3 points....equal men of the match. You can play as well as Crouchinho did (who plays far better with ball at feet) but still not walk away with any points unless someone scores the goal, and someone keeps them out at the other end. In other words all that matters is the points and the lack of injuries....nothing else.

City almost did a Birmingham and no-one can really say they wouldn't have deserved it. I'll happily say they wouldn't have deserved it. Our strikers are not scoring - it happens. Nonetheless we won, hit the bar, scraped the post, side-netting and made their keeper pull off a couple of saves and had one headed off the line. Crouch was taken off as he's just back from injury and was out on his feet - also Luis (who came on) has a good understanding with Mori. I also think with only a few minutes left the gaffer wanted a round of applause for Crouch not the thick-headed booing that ensued. Edited February 27, 2006 by fyds
