psl Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 Great game today. Didn't deserve to go off. Oh, and Agger looking very promising. Reina was brilliant again.
Gomez Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 Great game today. Didn't deserve to go off. Oh, and Agger looking very promising. Reina was brilliant again. Rafa probably suspects he's going to play 90 mins midweek because he's not a chavski player, and doesn't want him too knackered for next week.
madskilz Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 (edited) Reina was brilliant again, just swept anything they threw against him - coming out of the box and heading the ball away, intercepting that through ball - hard to believe he is so young Edited February 26, 2006 by madskilz
Guest Les Howard Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 Great game today. Didn't deserve to go off. Oh, and Agger looking very promising. Reina was brilliant again. I made Crouch my MOM. I don't like to hear the crowd booing Rafa's substitutions but it was borne out of frustration - due to Moro staying on.........blah blah blah..... Agger did ok. I think he plays with a bit of a swagger. One pass today was hit across the field with the outside of his left foot. Maybe a tad too eager at the moment - but he does look good and isn't afraid to carry the ball and put his foot in. Reina. Won us the game, simple. His starting positions are so good that most defensive lapses are cleared up before the danger emerges. Legend in the making.
D.Boon Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 I thought Agger looked very prominsing, really good passer, fairly quick he will be a great partner to Carra
anfieldgaz Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 Thought Crouch should have stayed on. Still dont know what Rafa sees in Nando at he moment. Would have thought hed give Cisse a run out today.
ajit Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 I thought Agger looked very prominsing, really good passer, fairly quick he will be a great partner to Carra Who's Carra?
Gomez Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 Thought Crouch should have stayed on. Still dont know what Rafa sees in Nando at he moment. Would have thought hed give Cisse a run out today. If Rafa was Houllier and Mori was French, he'd be getting a lot of stick from certain people at the moment.
JonShar Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 If Rafa was Houllier and Mori was French, he'd be getting a lot of stick from certain people at the moment. Yeah, cause he's not getting any stick about Moro at all. Bizarre Post Of The Day award.
nd Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 If Rafa was Houllier and Mori was French, he'd be getting a lot of stick from certain people at the moment. Not if Houllier had won us the European Cup the season before.
Gomez Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 Yeah, cause he's not getting any stick about Moro at all. Bizarre Post Of The Day award. Talking about Rafa getting stick, not Morientes. And not just talking about on this website, talking about the media in general. Not advocating him to get stick either, as it would be unjust, but then, the stick GH got for favouring French players was unjust as well.
Kenny_ Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 I don't see the point in moaning about taking Crouch off instead of Morientes. FFS we did the job today and got the three points we wanted. Garcia/Morientes have shown before that they are a decent combo. Maybe that was a big factor in Rafa's decision.
psl Posted February 26, 2006 Author Posted February 26, 2006 Rafa has said he kept Nando on as he wanted him to get a goal.
Paul B Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 Rafa has said he kept Nando on as he wanted him to get a goal. That was unlikely as there's only 90 minutes in a match. Nando wouldn't have scored yet. And that's with City on the bus back home.
Gomez Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 Rafa has said he kept Nando on as he wanted him to get a goal. Yeah bit odd that, as in the same interview he bemoaned the frustration of not getting a second goal. If you want to score the second goal, you don't persist with a striker that is reluctant to shoot. He needs working with on the training ground / reserves. Not in the first team. If we start him against Benfica, can anyone actually see us scoring the 2 we need? BTW. Any news on Xabi?
growler Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 I think it was telling that of all the number of shots on target, moro had none. Cisse, for all his faults, does score goals. When a goal up, and against 10 men, you would think someone with cisse's pace would be the man to bring on, and getting onto Crouch's through balls etc, they would work well for the remaining time. still, at the end of the day, if we are winning, and playing well its difficult to criticize. Had we lost, or drawn, fair enough, Moro would be in a lot of trouble with the fans.
Gomez Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 I think it was telling that of all the number of shots on target, moro had none. What abou the one he had after Didi put him through. It was pants, but it was still technically a shot on target.
Bjarkinn Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 moro cant even score with his wife.. Wow.. he gotta improve his perfomances i have him on the back of my shirt:)
Leo No.8 Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 (edited) It makes sense to say he's being rested as he looks far and away our best striker at present. The strange thing for me though is if that is the case, Crouch doesn't look tired at all and if anything seems really disappointed to come off rather than glad of a rest. You're trying to win a game, 1-0 up and we had given a few chances away at the other end, why do you take off your best player in that game when he doesn't look at all tired. It is odd the way Rafa brings him off so often. After all he probably won't play more than a half on Wednesday for England. Ironic isn't it; as a former member of the now disbanded and disgraced ABC group (anyone but Crouch), I didn't want us to sign him. Now he's here, he's won most of us over, we're made up with the lad and Rafa won't give us enough of him! Curse you Benitez and your Crouchery-pokery! Edited February 27, 2006 by Leo No.8
