Huyton_Red Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 Do you think he is doing a good job ? Investment Ground Transfers Commercial activities Picking managers Has he done a good job in these areas since he has been at the club ? Getting Rafa was IMO a brilliant acheivement, the best thing he has done for Liverpool. The rest of it however, is he doing above average in any other area ? Commerically we have not really moved forward, the ground and investment have stalled for two years now. Transfers ? I think he was got stung while Houllier was here and has had a couple of very bad summers in the transfer market buying players and nearly lost the captain last summer. He has gone from wreckless with transfrers and contracts to overly cautious. I dont see him excelling in any area, apart from the appointment of Rafa, what do you think, do you think the club is being run properly off the field ?
Huyton_Red Posted February 24, 2006 Author Posted February 24, 2006 It is only loaded with love for my fellow forumites
Huyton_Red Posted February 24, 2006 Author Posted February 24, 2006 Yes. Why ? In what areas do you think he is doing well in ?
Kite Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 Someone restrain Kev...He isn't able to put together a response that gets by the language censors!
SkippyjonJones Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 Perhaps you should put the question into context by specifying his exact role in relation to the points you made, the authority and autonomy that he has to make decisions and upon what basis the results of those decision can be measured against the expectations and goals set for Rick Parry - which you also need to explain to us.
Knox_Harrington Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 He has gone from wreckless with transfrers and contracts to overly cautious. We as a football club have done that like every other side in Europe bar Chelsea.

What is this, a f'ckin exam ? Can I just stick with, is he doing a good job ?
Knoxy Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 Yes It's difficult given that we're not privy to everything that goes on. But getting Rafa and telling everyone under the sun to f*** off re the groundshare were both excellent
SkippyjonJones Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 What is this, a f'ckin exam ? Can I just stick with, is he doing a good job ? no - what is his job - exactly. until we all know as much as you know about the exact responsibilities of his job then how can he be judged?
Rushian Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 Why ? In what areas do you think he is doing well in ? In running the club.
Knoxy Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 If you blame him for everything that hasn't worked perfectly for us of late, then no But that would be absurd
Falconhoof Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 (edited) Neither excelling nor failing IMO. Its difficult to think of anyone doing radically better and it would be a gamble to embark on looking for someone of a high enough calibre who has the necessary love of this club. We're closer to Chelsea this season, have improved the squad with Zenden, Reina, Sissoko and a whole batch of classy looking youngsters so its difficult t make a case against his handling of transfer policy. That he handled Gerrard's flirtation with Chelsea badly is only videnced by hearsay and isn't supported well by the fat that Gerrard is now committed to us for the long term. We were stiffed over Simao and it took a little longer to et Agger but overall its been good solid progress. Stadium and invesment situation is damn frustrating though, would help PR if there was more communication on that. Edited February 24, 2006 by Cardinal Fang

He has gone from wreckless with transfrers and contracts to overly cautious. I dont see him excelling in any area, apart from the appointment of Rafa, what do you think, do you think the club is being run properly off the field ? Investment - deal not found yet. Maybe he's done a great job in this, becasue the deals so far have not been good enough for the club. Maybe he's also a strong leader and has held firm for the right deal in the face of overwhelming pressure to get something sorted. Then again, maybe he's been sitting on his a*** and not even making an effort for investment. Somehow I think it's closer to the former, but we cannot possibly say how good of a job he's done because this has not yet run its course. Ground - it is linked to the above. In the meantime we're hardly homeless. Transfers - Rafa is making great progress with the budget at his disposal. Parry has no doubt helped secure some very good players at Rafa's behest. Alonso looks the pick of the bunch, and Reina and Sissoko are great players too. Kromkamp for Josemi was great business, etc. I'm sure there's more to come on this. I applaud an unwilllingness to pay over the odds for players. We cannot have it both ways as fans. We can't smash Ged for the money he spent and then moan that we now refuse to pay over the odds. Overall I'm happy with this, but like eveyone else I'd like to see Rafa given a bit more money. I'm sure it will come, but in the meantime we are not doing too badly with what we have. Commercial activities - our income went up quite dramatically last year, so well done. We are also getting into a new arrangment with Adidas (presumably becasue we can better the Reebok deal). Then we've also tied up some sort of deal for academies in Northa America, and we've got a link with that Ghana club too. I expect there will be a new sponsor announced soon as well (either shirt, tadium, or both). Picking mangers - I cannot think of a manger I'd rather have at Liverpool than the one Parry brought in. That's my tuppence worth
Bootle Buck Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 First of all no Chief Executive is going to be error-free. Yes he will make some mistakes and fall short in some of the issues previously mentioned. However, he understands our history and the way we do business as a club and will not sell his soul to the devil like the likes of Peter Kenyon. Both he and Moores have let Rafa do his job and have supported him and his decisions which is more than we can say for many CEO's and Chairmen. The Stadium and Investment is a very difficult area and I am glad someone like Parry is at the helm as I truly beieve he has the club's best interest in mind. I think we are lucky to have Parry and if he wasn't our CEO he would be snapped up in a second by another club or the FA.
Guest Kev Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 mmmmmmm Good question, interesting responses. Top Topic
