we're plying very well at the moment in terms of playing at a high tempo, breaking down the opposition & ball possetion.

But we are not making any clear cut chance for our player.

A lot has been said about the strikers not scoring but the chances need to be there for them to score.

im not just saying this because of the benfica game but to me its been evident for a while.

hopefully i'm just being over critcal but i'd like to know the thought of the other posters aswell.

Did you see the Arsenal game?

Been saying this for the last month or so. We never seem to be one on one with oppo keepers. We create very little chances for the amount of possession we have. Strikers seem to get a lot of the blame but they really can only finish whats set up for them.

Moro had clear cut chances in that Arsenal game. Not that many chances in the ManUSA game, but again, their goalie made a couple good saves, and Kewell, Finnan and Crouch had a good chance each as well. And you really need to be taking one of them three chances in games that are going to be tight.

We may not be creating loads of clear chances, but we've still created some good chances in most games, so to say we aren't creating any isn't really right.

Especially looking at the arsenal game - yes you can say their goalie was great. BUT you have to take at least one of them chances, and in the end we made a game we dominated, look tough, cos we couldn't score till the 87th min.

Benfica was a different thing all together - we where generally chit, let down by too many players on the night.

When Cisse has played he has been in a few one on one situations with keepers but he likes to miss them.

He does, but dont get me started on him. Just thinking back to the games at OT, start of the game at Stamford Bridge, first half at Charlton, At Benfica etc. We dominated the games. Yet ended up loosing. Arsenal was different and we did create good chances there. But quite a few of our games recently we have not created enough clear chances. Im not sure what to put that down to. Stevie not in the middle perhaps. Still with him on the right and HK on the left we should be creating more.

You are Gerard Houllier and I claim my £5...:)

Seriously though, I know what you're saying Amit, but I don't think the way we play is condusive to players being one on one with the keeper, which everyone puts down as a clear chance.

However, some of the delivery into the box from the likes of Finnan, Gerrard and latterly Fowler has been outstanding, but we've been missing the opportunities that quality has been providing, particularly Morientes.

It's amazing our games just seem to fly by, especially the first half. It seems like we control the game and pass it all around the park but create very few clear cut chances. Apart from Stevie in full flight we have few who can cut open a defence with a run or pin point pass. I would love to know the stats on how many games this season we have been at 0-0 at HT.

Its been like this for a while, we will never be arsenal but we still need a variety of goals, we have the passers like stevie & alonso, but whats lacking is a striker with decent pace and excellent movement to time runs of the last defender.

i would love to see us buy a striker that will run at the defence from deep, this would allow our clever players such as fowler and nando to feed off their runs.

problem is these players are hard to come by. and not to say far too expensive, e.g rooney, henry, messi.

The runs these type of players make, opens up spaces in the oppostions, which creates the space for others and therefore the chances are made available. gerrard does this for us but its better for us when he dictates from the middle. if we had some one doing it further up the field, teams would find us unplayable.

hopefully raffa's got a gem up his sleeve for the summer

Remember who really liked to miss them? Milan Baros!
