Guest Kev Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 I think the game on Sunday will be extremely tough for us. Carragher suspended, Fowler unable to play and Sissoko out. The biggest question will be who will play alongside Hyypia. If Agger is fit then I think he should, but failing that what are our options ? Traore and that is it. I've got no problem with Djimi but I know there are a load who have. Could anyone else play there ? The midfield, not the game for Didi to start, but will Gerrard be risked ? Does Xabi need a break ? Then it comes to the much maligned front men. Crouch has to start, but who should partner him ? I think it's time for Cisse to be given a second chance. At this moment in time I can see us struggling in all areas of the park against City.

Champions League winner Djimi Traore is an able enough centre half. if we play KronKamp at right mid, that would give us a pretty sturdy right hand side. play Stevie in midfield with Didi, and Harry on the left, with Garcia playing off Crouch up front. Alonso on the bench
Barnesy_10 Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 f***! didn't realise fowler couldn't play we'll be alright.. they have Distin in defence..
Spike Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 City are a decent side for sure but we'll suffocate them as we do with most teams nowadays. I could think of worse teams to face with such personnel out to be honest Kev.
Michael Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 If we smother the midfield it would help our CBs. Hamann and Alonso in front of the back two would be the best way to help the stand-in CB.
Guest Kev Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 Kev in pessimist shock concerned rather than pessimistic.
anny road Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 concerned rather than pessimistic. note the smiley..... pox face
Bootser Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 Kev - Why suggest Didi shouldn't start in this game?
anny road Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 they are not the strongest at the moment.......They have a kid playing right back, lack width and are not firing up front (ok a bit like us I suppose but eh).....There strength is in midfield where we will have to combat Barton........Get on top of him and City are f***ed
Guest Kev Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 note the smiley..... pox face I don't have a smiley pox face
Will Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 JAR at CB (What game was it at Anfield earlier this season that Rafa moved JAR to CB for the last 10 mins or so?)
anny road Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 JAR at CB (What game was it at Anfield earlier this season that Rafa moved JAR to CB for the last 10 mins or so?) one where i hid my eyes for the last ten minutes
Gilps Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 JAR at CB (What game was it at Anfield earlier this season that Rafa moved JAR to CB for the last 10 mins or so?) And who comes in at left back? You're changing two positions in the back four when you only need to change one.
Will Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 And who comes in at left back? You're changing two positions in the back four when you only need to change one. I wasn't being serious!
floyd the barber Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 (edited) -------------reina-------------finnan--hypia-agger----riise-----------hamann-----------------------alonso------------gerrard---------------kewell--------cisse----crouch------ Nothing to worry about...and i definetly expect hamann to play with carra out and Agger possibly not match fit...AND if it is decided that Agger isnt fit, then id have no problem putting traore in as replacement. no need to worry kev.....still a f***ing good side that. Gilps Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 Thank god for that. Even the suggestion had me in palpatations
sammy knucklz Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 "(Will @ Feb 22 2006, 22:45) JAR at CB (What game was it at Anfield earlier this season that Rafa moved JAR to CB for the last 10 mins or so?)" newcastle on boxing day. one where i hid my eyes for the last ten minutes aye
floyd the barber Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 we gotta watch for the fernando morientes look-a-like new striker that city have bought....looks a good player.
galés rojo Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 Got to find a way of getting Gerrard back in the middle now that Sissoko is out.Xabi and Didi don't provide drive and energy. Either play Gerrard ahead of Hamann and Xabi behind Crouch or play him with one of Xabi and Didi with Kronkamp on the right.
Elisha_Scott Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 I am a bit worried myself, Carra out and SG not optimum is not good. Joey always loves playing against us so will be well up for it. I think they could cause us a few problems.
Andyjandy Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 Seriously though, I think it will be a great day for us. The strength of the squad will reveal itself.
