Serious eye injury according to R5. Liverpool doctor staying in Portugal over night with him.

Can only hope it's not as bad as they think.

Get well soon Momo.

OS :(

The word 'serious' really worries me. No eye injury's are trivial, but this kind of imply's it's bad. Obviously the most important thing is for Momo to recover fully, and maybe it's the beer and the defeat, but am I over reacting to think anything that limits / impairs vision could be career ending?

Dean Shiels (used to be an Arsenal youth) has played with only one eye for omst of his short career.

Innocent attempt for the ball - no malice.

You'd like to think so, but it doesn't tally with what I saw. Would never suggest it was a an attempt to seriously injure Sissoko, but it was dangerous play, Momo is not a short bloke and was not crouching that much, you don't go in at that height accidentally.

Sissoko was charging the ball down cos hes got balls and was going in at pace.. the Benfica player was making a clearance in a way like Carra did that ball to Sami for his goal at Wigan.... it was just wrong place at wrong time..

Would take quite some time to get used to that. Bit of a negative thought though. As for me, I'm a man of optimism.

does double vision class as a serious eye injury?

It looked like he was hit to the right of his right eye... but not directly in the eye, might be a fractured socket? In which case it could be a long recovery process....

Fair play to momo, he doesn't back down and works his balls off... if he goes down and stays down you know its a serious one... lets hope hes back soon, we need him... match number 44 tonight of a possible 77 for the season

You're right, Dean Shiels had been playing with it since he was about six. For the record, I don't think he'll lose his eye but I'm talking about visual problems. Hasn't Scholes had double vision meaning he can't play? That was career threatening. We can take solace from the fact it didn't see to go straight into Momos eye like that guy who got t***ed by Hyypias overhead kick.

Is it alright to laugh at him? Like a certain Alan Smith?
