Guest Red Mist Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 Becks and Woody start for Real while no Englishman is present for the Goons. Walcott f***ed up by going to an anti-English club like Arsenal.
Guest Xabi_Alonso Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 and figo is playing for real apparently, so said itv
Earl Hafler Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 I thought Walcott was supposed to be starting ?
Jonesy Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 Good to see the English Patient lasting more than 20 minutes ........oh hang on
Guest Red Mist Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 The foreign legion of Arsenal have done England proud tonight! They're the first British team to win at the Bernebeu. Take a bow, Gooners.
Guz Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 Just seen highlights of their game. Arsenal started really well, could've been 3 or 4 up in 20mins. Madrid's defence is comical though, the midfield basically let anyone run at their back 4 at will and just sit around and wait for Gravesen or Guti to get the move rolling. They've been good in Spain recently but were absolutely s**** tonight. Passes going astray all over the place and very little tempo to their game.

madaboutlfc Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 I think Arsenal will regret not scoring more than 1 when they had the chance.. I hope they go through though..
stressederic Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 It'll be interesting to see how Madrid do on Arsenal's pitch. Highbury's a lot more compact than the Bernabeu, and Arsenal aren't the only team who like tight intricate passing. Could be a good game.

I am convinced that Arsenal's tactical plan included instructions to let the attacking players take their time to control the ball and turn before trying to move it forwards. Arsenal were given all the time they needed on the ball to make their passing game work. And once again, Real's defence showed that their idea of top notch defending is last ditch sliding tackles. Traore would be a star in their eyes. Big Stuff said: One swallow doesn't make a summer it made mine.
Guest Red Mist Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 Real's defending is abysmal. That Cicinho goes missing half the time. Woodgate's missing most of the time. What a waste of money, a wretched career blighted by injuries is the justice Woodgate deserved after escaping serious punishment after he battered that asian lad almost to death. I hope Arsenal dump out Real because I'm certain we'd take Arsenal to the cleaners if we were to meet them in the latter stages, but with Real, who are so unpredictable, I wouldn't be so confident.

Earl Hafler Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 A big reason Arsenal have failed to go as far in the CL as the Mancs and we have, despite having had at times a better side, is Henry's poor games in the latter stages. He doesn't ' go missing ' all the time but it does happen alot for someone as brilliant as he is.

Spion kop Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 real were absolutely s**** last night their coach had no ideas except for "more strikers!"

I think it's exaggerated. Just because he takes the piss in the Premiership doesn't mean he's going to be able to do it against the best defenders in Europe. He's still done alright though considering the amount of goals he's scored. Among them a hat-trick against Roma, goals against Inter, Real Madrid etc...
aka Dus Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 Thanks to Blairs policy of 'education, education, education' we are starting to see a real impact in the level of English like performances from the Premiership's foreign imports. They take the English methods to heart and as a result run ragged over their racist, uncouth Spanish counterparts. I declare today National England day. A proud day for all Englishman across the globe and a good day to be English.
growler Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 was I the only one who expected Real Madrid to lose? If we were playing them I would EXPECT us to win. not be surprised. the geriatricos are finished. Its over.
wacko Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 (edited) May I forward the theory that Henry doesn't necessarily go missing in big games, he just doesn't rise to the occassion/can't raise his game in the way the greatest players do. He only, perhaps "goes missing" by his own stratospheric standards. Edited February 22, 2006 by wacko
