There were a couple of balls that dropped in the box in the 2nd half, when Pepe came off his line quickly to claim the ball. Me and a couple of mates agreed that if that was Dudek he would have stayed rooted to his line, and that the striker would have been through on goal.

 

Shot stopping wise, I think they're both at a similar level. But it's his anticipation and agility off his line that makes Reina the much better keeper.

He is worth every penny of what we signed him for....people were complaining about the size of the transfer we paid, but a great keeper is required to win the Premiership...and having one doesn't hurt us in the FA Cup or in Europe, neither.

I haven't been able to view the pictures from my computer at work, even though i reboot at least once a day, and also from my laptop at home.

I thought his signing was an unnecessary one as I was more than happy with Dudek, genuinely (and still) believing him to be one of the best in Europe. You don't just dump a CL-final hero.

 

But even an eejit like I can spot the gulf in class. Dudek makes great saves, Reina keeps goal. That's the simple but important difference.

 

Maybe it's that old (bulls**t) Cech thing of "he hasn't been tested, not with a great defence ahead of him" but he rarely has to make a spectacular save. His reading of the game, awareness, confidence, positioning and concentration is miles ahead of Dudek.

 

Almost as good as Westerveld's.

Pretty much every goalie at this level is a good shot stopper - see guys like Pollit, Carroll, Myhre, Sorensen, all can make superb saves. It's other things top goalies do well that makes them stand apart from this crowd So being a 'great shot stopper' or making great saves, isn't exactly marking a goalie higher than a whole number of decent to average goalies in this league.

 

I don't think Dudek is one of the best in Yerp. Hasn't been for a while really.

the biggest pile of s**** anyone can say about a dodgy goal keeper is 'but he's a good shot stopper' cos they're all good shot stoppers.
