Gerrard - 7 - effective in spurts, United seemed to be focussing on keeping the ball away from him though

Sissoko - 8 - It's like having 12 players on the pitch at times

Hamann - 9 - I didn't think he had a performance like this in him anymore, superb

Kewell - 7 - Looked lively again, slightly hesitant in possession though

Crouch - 7 - A return to form, held the ball up well and great header for the goal

Morientes - 7 - Worked really hard and retained possession very well

Loved it when he carried the ball out of defence when we were under the kosh right near the end and won a freekick with his trademark Didi crumple

 

Mori played well, definitely a 7 I thought... Still not much of a threat in front of goal, but his first half display was impressive overall, I thought...

Finnan 8 - great game after dodgy start

Sami 7 - solid

Carra 8 - Very impressive, particularly his anticipation

Riise 6.5 - Worked hard

Gerrard 7 - Quiet first half but better second and some great crosses

Momo 8.5 - Fantastic game

Didi 9 - Legend MOM

Kewell 7.5 - great 1st half, quieter and should of scored in the 2nd

Crouch 8 - scored the winner with a quality header and looked good

Morientes 7 - Worked hard and looks to be fitting in better lately, needs a goal.

 

Best we have played 442 IMO as momo and didi played so well it allowed SG and HK to play as proper wingers and stay wide. Thought the quality of crosses tonight bt the whole team was far better tonight (not before time either).

Well 6 of those must be for taking Neville out on the touchline.

 

I thought he had a decent game but gave the ball away in good positions ( one time Riise was clear down the left and Kewell played a poor pass infield that was intercepted ) and he was posing. Standing on the ball, arms out like he thought he was John Barnes or something. Needs to play more quickly. Poor shot when a clear chance to at least work the keeper.

 

Gerrard had a quiet match by his ' World's best ' standards

Didi was brilliant again

Sissoko - loads of energy, battled well but his use of the ball was poor and he tried to hard at times when a simple pass would have worked. Good game though because he didn't allow their players any time on the ball.

Finnan had a good game but should have made it 2-0

Riise was good, although had a couple of lapses in defence. What on earth were we trying with that 40 yard free-kick ?

Carra and Hyypia were excellent. If anyone picks their pockets tonight they might find £40m worth of centre forwards.

Morientes and Crouch played well but had little help from a ref who went from the sublime to the ridiculous in a matter of seconds.

Not what i saw. Gave the ball away when not under pressure. Dwelled on it and allowed himself to be tackled.

 

My MOTM candidates would be Didi, Hyypia, Carra and Finnan

 

Morientes played well. Does he need glasses ? When he was about to be subbed he signalled that he couldn't see the numbers...he wasn't that far away either.

Didi was MOM for me. As for Kewell i was not suggesting he was MOM but it was not a poor game from him. His 1st half was excellant, 2nd half i would agree was not ideal. Overall though his game was good.

from the middle of the kop - he had a f***ing great game. the end.

 

He did, held the ball up well, beat his man and usually went past another 1 or 2. Tackled back too. Maybe he just takes ages to get over minor injuries, I'm having him as first to score against City.

 

One of Crouch's best performances for us too, if not his best.

I think there are times when he needs to be quicker at whatever he's going to do - be it taking someone on or crossing the ball. Today i thought he dwelt on it and made some poor decisions.
