Stevie H Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 wasn't it because they'd just signed kezman?
charlie clown Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 his electronic tag doesn't let him within 500 yeards of certain London brothels.
Rushian Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 Why did Chelsea not go in for Rooney? Mourinho wasn't interested.
Maldini Posted February 18, 2006 Author Posted February 18, 2006 Did he ever say that? Given their current habit of buying,or trying to buy, every young talent in the country it's surprising they didn't even consider moving for the best. Hard to believe they paid more up front for SWP than United did for Rooney.
Michael Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 I would guess they made private enquiries and were rebuffed by the player himself and so saw no point in being publicly humiliated.
Swipe Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 Didn't Rooney say he wasn't interested in going there? Or at least, he wasn't interested in going to London. Wanted to stay in the North. Pretty sure he did.
madaboutlfc Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 Yep he was quite specific about it. Didn't fit into the style of play he wanted and wanted someone who didn't need polishing and when Utd bought Rooney he was still very young.so they got that polished gem from marsielles
wacko Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 That's strange, think he'd suit their style pretty well, he can hold the ball up relatively well. He's not bad at it, but I don't think he's as suited to the lone striker role as Drogba--he's certainly not as strong in the air--and his best position is a bit deeper.
