CarraLegend Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 I liked their Liverpool hoof the ball chant, while everytime they attempted an attack it was a hoof up to Henry or Adebayor (With Henry seemingly applauding no matter where the ball went)
Guz Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 We hoofed it a bit in the 2nd half when things got flat but they barely put 3 passes together for the whole night.
Stevie H Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 think we tend to launch it a bit more when reina's not there. the defence don't seem to trust jerzy as much so play safety first and send it rather than pass it back to the 'keeper.

I've never thought of that before, but now you mention it, Terry Henry is always applauding..! I bet Nicole is really cheesed off at him during sex..! Any time she comes back up for air, out come the gloved hands and a big clap...! "Hey, Nicole, what's French for clap like a tw*t...?"
Kvarme Ate My Food Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 what sort of a ponce gives a s*** about styles of footie anyway? 1-0, end of

Yes, I was beginning to think in the secondhalf that our side were under the impression that Crouch was on the field. Don't they know yet that they MUST play the ball to Fowler on the ground? Don't think he had as many as three decent passes all game. He nearly scored with one of them. And I'm not the only one who thinks Gerrard should have invited Fowler to take the pen.
smicer07 Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 Just cos we don't pass the ball to death creating no opportunities, doesn't mean we hoof it!

I don't think either of Fowler or Gerrard should take them. Gerrard has never convinced even while scoring them. Fowler never convinced either. Finnan or Carragher should take them in training and then take one the next time we are 2-0 up in a game and if they bury it take them from that point onwards. We need a regular taker. Until then we'll have to make do and mend.

Yeah but not so good when they get the ball back straight away! Is it just me or does Hyypia seem to kick it straight to the other team at least 3 times a match. I mean obviously it's ok if you're under pressure but sometimes Sami kicks it and there's not a red shirt within 25 yards of where it lands and there is loads of short passes on!
Mike Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 sammi's long passing is bizarre.he'll do a pearler followed by 5 atrocious passes to the opposition and put us right in the s***.
cestrianred Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 But ironically a*** fans are normally OK.I was talking to a few in The Arkles before (normally The Sandon, but The Arkles is nearer & [incredibly for once] was not 120% full earlier). The chats (to me) cemented what I have always thought,We get on with, have respect for etc etc each other. This one guy in particular was saying he loved Anfield as "I can wear my colours without threat, have good banter but intelligent debate with it, as long as I don't overstep or respect the line"-said that there was no such situation with the Bitters next door. When I heard the "We pay your benefits" etc chants in the game I was a bit dissapointed, thinking "that's not the Arsenal I respect" - it goes to show!
Kvarme Ate My Food Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 they probably think the same when we sing "s*** on the coockneys" - I don't mind the dole jibes myself

cochyn Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 Liverpool, Hoof-the-ball" tickled me, I have to say. Not half as much as oour retort though; "Sol Campbell, where's she gone?"
DanielS Posted February 16, 2006 Posted February 16, 2006 Somebody needs to tell Ljunberg not to say the kinds of things he does - makes his own fans look like morons: Arsenal are a long ball team. Hoof that one.

Until then we'll have to make do and mend. I think it was a good save, but I don't think there is ever such a thing as an acceptable penalty miss. Somebody in our squad has to take it upon themselves to earn the art of penalty taking. The great penalty kings usually beat the keeper before the ball is struck. I can't remember when we last had a penalty where we sent the keeper the wrong way. Someone in the team has to take 20 pens a day in training until he's mastered the art. Then see if it can be applied to matches. Alternatively we'll to sign a mediocre player whose reliable from the spot. We must have lost an enourmous amount of point sover the past 5 years with our penalty record.

His posey 40 yard "Hoddle-esqe" ball pinged straight to the opposition always baffles me, it seems like the more time he has on the ball the worse his distribution.

One of his stray passes in the second half was one of those where you literally had no idea what he had in his head to do
Guest Wilko Posted February 16, 2006 Posted February 16, 2006 Benitez said: ironic thing is, if Arsenal could actually vary their tactics and used the long ball a bit more, now they don't have as many great players on top form, they'd probably do a whole lot better! But yes, they where tedious again, especially considering how chite their team was playing. they were hoofing it as much as we were(which wasn't really all that much anyway!)

They've been decent penalties but you've always felt a save is going to come. As soon as we got it on Tuesday I thought "Not Gerrard". Then I thought "Not Fowler". Then I thought "Who the f*** then?" Think he always has it in him to miss, whereas I never expected Danny Murphy to miss, and I think, crucially, he knows he has it in him to miss. He's missed too many to ever have that aura now (that Hodgson's referring to) and I'd like to see someone else have a go.

It's weird, put us in a shootout and no problems, give us a penno in a normal match during 90mins and i'd say we've got one of the worst conversion rates in the country.
