New York Red Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 We're obviously getting really stocked here now. To my recollection, we have Carra, Sami, Agger, Paletta, Jack Hobbs, Antwi. I know we have one or two others also (please fill them in, I forget). But, I can't help but think that Anton Ferdinand is going to be a superb player. His brother has proved his worth already. I've seen Anton play a few times now and he really impresses me, not the least of which is his ball control -- it really is exceptional for a centre back. I though he was a short*rse compared to his brother but he's very similar in size. Even though we are getting very strong in this position, I would really hope we make a run at him this summer. I think he will be geat for years to come. The drawback of course is that I'm sure he is a prize kn*b just like his brother.

Bigal Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 I get the feeling some maybe groomed for the defensive midfielder role. Hobbs has been playing there in the reserves
anny road Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 Roque, O'Donnell, Medjani, Whitbread, Raven Raven is a right back really...and Hobbs has been playing in midfield Whitbread and Medjiani will go this summer i think I would reckon we will have Hyypia, Carra, Palletta & Agger challenging
Billy Talbot Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 At risk of sounding like RP, they really could have had a great team had they been wealthier and not been relegated Defoe, Cole, Lampard, Carrick, Reo-Coker, (Harewood/Zamora,) Ferdinandx2 could be a pretty nifty side with a couple of attacking full-backs and a decent keeper I've a Hammer mate who goes on about this. He also says they had james, and Di Canio wasn't a bad player. Facts are though, they aren't big enough anymore to keep these good players. And in fact 'Arry Redknapp loved selling them. He only got pissed off about them to raise the price of the next one leaving. He only got really pissed off with the board for selling at what he thought was too cheap a price, and then not letting him have more money to go out to but replacements. Blame their board, blame Harry 'Car Dealer' Redknapp, blame the players that left. They knicked Defoe from Charlton anyway. Was enormous fuss about it. Tribual gave Charlton some s***ty fee.

They'd really be a force to contend with. That Reo-Coker is turning into quite a player too. I like him a lot.
Guest AdamS Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 Raven is a right back really...and Hobbs has been playing in midfield Whitbread and Medjiani will go this summer i think I would reckon we will have Hyypia, Carra, Palletta & Agger challengingHobbs has been playing in midfield to improve his ability on the ball. Pako has said as much. He is definitely a centre back of the future! Ravo is probably
Guest big_master_b Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 Roque, O'Donnell, Medjani, Whitbread, Raven Don't forget Traore. Interesting that our third choice for the position until the arrival of Agger is forgotten in a post like this. I guess that just shows how lucky we are to have those two great players as first choice, and that they have not got injured in the last season and half.
G Richards Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 I think West Ham would want too much, say £10M or something stupid like that. So I doubt it will happen. He does look a decent player though, but I'm more than happy with what we have.
AE Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 Agreed - I think Medjani could yet do a job for us. Haven't seen much of him, but he stood out as a very intelligent player in Rafa's first game at Wrexham. I was expecting him to get more oportunities.
Maldini Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 At risk of sounding like RP, they really could have had a great team had they been wealthier and not been relegated Defoe, Cole, Lampard, Carrick, Reo-Coker, (Harewood/Zamora,) Ferdinandx2 could be a pretty nifty side with a couple of attacking full-backs and a decent keeperThey've a few kids between 16 and 18 that could become great players too Back on topic - Medjani was captain of France U-19's and had an outstanding tournament before Xmas playing at CB, but can also play at full-back. He's further along in his development than people like Hobbs, Antwi etc and I would like to see him kept and people like Whitbread and Raven released.I think if Medjani had a future with us he would have stayed in the summer when we were desperate for CBs, think he'll be off this summer.
