matty Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 bobby the tout charlton is reported to have coined it. I thought it was Stuart Hall? And didn't he used to call Anfield 'The Colosseum'?? Stuart Hall should present every programme on TV. By law.
Ostrich Man Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 i thought it was Bobby charlton also....
Stevie H Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 I thought it was Stuart Hall? And didn't he used to call Anfield 'The Colosseum'?? Stuart Hall should present every programme on TV. By law. was sure it was charlton mate. in the martin edwards era just as the sky thing got going. agree about stuart hall. bring back it's a knockout.
Herbie von Smalls Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 Bobby Charlton's a c***nah man, he's a gent. great ambassador for english football and even for his wretched club.
Knox_Harrington Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 I thought it was Stuart Hall? And didn't he used to call Anfield 'The Colosseum'?? Stuart Hall should present every programme on TV. By law.He still calls Anfield The Colosseum. "The dark clouds gathered overhead as the gladiators emerged onto the hallowed turf of the colosseum to drive the potential precipitation away with the bright light of glory to be found in every corner of the field; Dalglish looked on from his Olympus in the Main Stand and he must have purred as Benitez's men...." That's obviously paraphrasing but I don't think it's too far away from one.
Herbie von Smalls Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 No, he's a horrible, odious c***how so? i've never seen him conduct himself with anything other than humility and professionalism. he's not the most charasmatic of people, but to have overcome his demons in the aftermath of the munich tragedy is worthy of respect.
Leo No.8 Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 I'd be interested to hear the resident United fans view on this, but I'd find the whole 'The Theatre of Dreams' thing a bit embarassing. It's seriously cheesy - imagine Glazer had decided to call it that, wonder what the reaction would be... No, he's a horrible, odious c*** Can't say I could bring myself to dislike Charlton myself. He's always come across as a fairly nice bloke, and was a true great as a footballer. Of course he represents the enemy, but some opposing generals should be respected and I'd say he is one who merits falling into that category.
Jim D Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 Bobby Charlton is probably the only Man Utd past/present player I have the most respect for. That man is a living legend in the game of football. Just a shame alot of the glory hunting mancs don't see it that way. Cantona voted Manchester United greatest ever player, don't make laugh. Law, Charlton and Best in my opinion were greater legends for them than Cantona.
matty Posted February 15, 2006 Author Posted February 15, 2006 have a read of this Matty. You probably already know this but its worth another read Hall on Bob Paisley Great stuff. Cheers Jonesy.

Jonesy Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 why do people call bobby charlton a tout? i've often wondered.for the record i don't like him, or any of them for that matter. Some of his allocation of tickets for a utd match ......can't remember which one (it was one he got busted for, or as he claims was duped into) made there way onto the black market.
