I'm not going to dismiss it out of hand, just because of what happened last time.

Hmm Liverpool go through a slightly dodgy run, but have big games against Arsenal, Man United and Benefica coming up in all three competitions, and suddenly stories are appearing in the press about the captain?

Am I being slightly paranoid, or does this sound very much lipe the normal operating proceedure of a club that got t****** by Boro at the weekend?

f***ing c**k journo...

Wigan outplayed Chelsea on the first day of the season.... Chelsea came away with a totally undeserved win.... If the c**k his basing his opinions on abilities during a match then by his reckoning half of the Manc, Spurs and Liverpool team would want to move on...

surely these reports have to bypass an editor at some point?

relax. It's a s**** article written entirely on supposition:

the overriding feeling was one of watching an increasingly unfulfilled player

the return of Robbie Fowler a potentially alarming retrograde step for management and club alike.

etc

We're still the best bet for 2nd. In the last 16 of the FAC & EC, with a young manager at the helm who swam uphill to win the EC last season.

the progress of the squad under Rafael Benítez has slowed to a snail's pace, he says. What? W1 D1 L3 in the last 5 league games? But barely a month ago we'd gone almost 1100 prem hours w/o conceding & won 10 in 11.

No panic, Rafa hasn't lost his marbles overnight & Gerrard knows the score

To be fair imagine John Terry, Henry, Keane, Neville, Scholes etc. hooring themselves to another top of the league club just so they can win trophies regardless? I can't. Gerrard f***ed up badly especially after the CL final. That was f***ing sad beyond belief. He's been playing brilliantly and for me he's a player we can't do without but he really really f***ed up and these stories will always happen because of his hunger to match his mates in trophies. He, as we have to take it on the chin. It's deserved. I can't imagine Keane or Neville wanting to join Chelsea to be sure of trophies can you.

i dont want to sound alarmist but gerrard does seem to have the same body language as last season at the present. Maybe im looking at this in completely the wrong way but he is looking like a person who is thinking in his mind that he cant be arsed carrying the weight of the team on his shoulders, unlike the player with renewed vigour from before xmas.

Or possibly because he has already played approx 3,500 minutes of football in about 6 months?

If his body language was the same against the Mancs i'd be very worried but he's only human and he can't be 10/10 every week.

I thought on Saturday he looked a little frustrated. He went on several gut busting runs that others couldn't play a simple ball to him and he just looked frustrated. I also think when we have a few poor games he starts to try the hollywood passes and tries to do a little too much himself. I'm sure it's just to do with this little blip and the fact that we had shown so much promise in our recent run. Back to winning ways and the press will dissappear.

And as the Manc game gets closer, the same paper today runs a good news story for the Mancs about RVN wanting to stay with them.
