Benzo-13 Posted February 12, 2006 Posted February 12, 2006 (edited) From Skysports. Bruno Cheyrou is delighted to be playing a defensive midfielder role for Bordeaux. The 27-year-old is on loan from Liverpool having failed to make the expected impact in England following his move from Lille in 2002. He spent last season at Marseille on a similar deal, but he is now thriving in a new role at Bordeaux. "My role onto the pitch has changed a lot since Lille or Liverpool," said Cheyrou. "I am playing in the back, perhaps I will have fewer opportunities to shine, but I am happy. "I try to have some influence on the team, even if it is hard work. I think I found myself at ease in the new role. "At Liverpool, I played higher, just behind the forward, which didn't match my profile. I need to touch the ball a lot. Before coming to Bordeaux the officials said they see me more in the centre". "I took it as a sign, inside of me I knew". Edited February 12, 2006 by Benzo-13

fyds Posted February 12, 2006 Posted February 12, 2006 Interesting - I suppose with his range of passing it could work for him.
hideNseek Posted February 12, 2006 Posted February 12, 2006 Never seemed tough enough for that sort of roll.
richt71 Posted February 12, 2006 Posted February 12, 2006 Never seemed tough enough for that sort of roll. Jesus the Bordueax coach must have lost the plot! I watched the entire recent Lyon -Bordueax match the other week and Bruno set up some great moves but his tackling was very poor. He gave away a couple of free kicks and ended up getting booked for bringing down a lyon player!
