Elisha_Scott Posted February 12, 2006 Posted February 12, 2006 Kevin Nolan is an excellent player and I would love us to sign him. His goal last night was pure class. He also comes across as a sound lad.
Armin_Tamzarian Posted February 12, 2006 Posted February 12, 2006 didn't we ask for nolan when bolton tried to lure hamman away? I don't know whether we tried for him then but I think we may have enquired when negotiating Diouff's transfer. He's a skillful tough and versatile midfielder, would be a great addition but perhaps not feasible when you think of the need in other areas of the squad. If we were to move for him or Barton for that matter the summer would be the time as I suspect the next England manager will have a good look at both of them soon after he takes over.
psl Posted February 12, 2006 Posted February 12, 2006 Agreed. Would be a great signing. He'd be almost as chuffed as Robbie I'd imagine.
New York Red Posted February 12, 2006 Posted February 12, 2006 I'll agree on that. I think he's a cracking player and we be great for us. Does anyone have an opinion of how much he'd cost? I think he'd be about 6 million.
Atticus Finch Posted February 12, 2006 Posted February 12, 2006 I'll agree on that. I think he's a cracking player and we be great for us. Does anyone have an opinion of how much he'd cost? I think he'd be about 6 million. Depends on what is left on his contract and how much he forces the issue. I would say Bolton would want 6-8m for him and you can imagine Fat Sam being a c*** about it too. Very good player who would be excellent for us, I just think the price makes it unrealistic for the next 18 months or so given what else we need to do with the squad.
Cisse Posted February 12, 2006 Posted February 12, 2006 Very good game against Arsenal yestrday. Great goal as well. Boateng is the new Hamann though
anny road Posted February 12, 2006 Posted February 12, 2006 why cant we find a bloody right winger who was born in huyton and is desperate to play for us and I dont mean Fat Bob ho plays for Marine either
Mike Posted February 12, 2006 Posted February 12, 2006 good signing, but he's more of a gerrard player than hamann
Cisse Posted February 12, 2006 Posted February 12, 2006 Mike, are you talking about Kim Källstrom again.
Mike Posted February 12, 2006 Posted February 12, 2006 Mike, are you talking about Kim Källstrom again. if thats swedish for kevin nolan, yeah.
Paul B Posted February 12, 2006 Posted February 12, 2006 ....I really think he could do an excellent job for us. Sign more Scousers Yeah, Mickey Quinn.
Leo No.8 Posted February 12, 2006 Posted February 12, 2006 (edited) Kevin Nolan is an excellent player and I would love us to sign him. His goal last night was pure class. He also comes across as a sound lad. He is a sound lad - one of the most down to earth footballers you'll meet. Kev is a massive red as well - he was on the same coach as my cousin when they went to Istabul and he'd be ecstatic to come to us. When we were linked with him in the summer I asked him if it was true and he said all he knew about it was what was in the papers, so I don't think we ever actually made an official approach. Mike Posted February 12, 2006 Posted February 12, 2006 he's obviously not aware of our transfer policy.tell him that we only sign players who beg us to play for us first. we then ask them to prove their devotion by forcing their clubs to sell them to us for f*** all so parry and the boys can maintain their beachfront suites at the sandy lane.
Bootle Buck Posted February 12, 2006 Posted February 12, 2006 I think if Fat Sam takes the England job a few of the Bolton lads may jump ship. Nolan would be a great signing. I have rarely seen him have a bad game.
anfield11 Posted February 12, 2006 Posted February 12, 2006 Maybe add Joey Barton to the list too.....just scored a cracker
Guest Kev Posted February 12, 2006 Posted February 12, 2006 Maybe add Joey Barton to the list too.....just scored a cracker They are very similar type of player to me. Given the choice between the two Nolan would just shade it for me.
Ombudsam Posted February 13, 2006 Posted February 13, 2006 he's obviously not aware of our transfer policy.tell him that we only sign players who beg us to play for us first. we then ask them to prove their devotion by forcing their clubs to sell them to us for f*** all so parry and the boys can maintain their beachfront suites at the sandy lane. That almost reads word for word like something a certain person on TLW would write
crisps Posted February 13, 2006 Posted February 13, 2006 (edited) I think if Nolan or Barton played for Chelsea, they'd probably both outshine Fat Frank And if Alan Smith gets in the England Midfield over any of them 2!!!!! RANT ON Edited February 13, 2006 by mikeyj
alias75 Posted February 13, 2006 Posted February 13, 2006 Think he'd be a top signing Didi doesnt have many years left and i think Alonso will become our holding midfielder with 2 players with good energy around him (perm 2 from Stevie, Sissoko and Nolan) He is a mad red and so thats a huge factor if we were in for him. Id imagine the transfer fee would be around £6 million and the players desire to play for us would obviously take any real bargaining power from Bolton. Yes midfield is an area we arent short in, BUT as we're finding out when your trying to win 3 or 4 different competitions you need a large squad and midfield is the area where you need the most backup since these guys get through the most effort every game, would love to see another local lad in the team.
Bootle Buck Posted February 13, 2006 Posted February 13, 2006 He's a take charge type of lad too who would be a great leader on the field like Carra and Stevie. Being a big fan for me is the clincher, what a heart we would have with Carra, Stevie, Robbie and Nolan. All fans first and players second.
Ronnie Whelan Posted February 13, 2006 Posted February 13, 2006 I think he would be a fanstastic addition. Quite similar to SG in terms of his all energy game.
Leo No.8 Posted February 13, 2006 Posted February 13, 2006 (edited) Kev used to be a striker in school - scored absolutely loads of goals, and I still think he has that goalscoring instinct. You saw the way he took his goal against Arsenal, and his overhead earlier this season was pure class. He has spent time playing off the lone man up front for Bolton, and would probably actually get more goals than any of our current strikers in that role. Edited February 13, 2006 by Leo No.8
Ronnie Whelan Posted February 13, 2006 Posted February 13, 2006 Steven Hawkins would probably get more goals than any of our current strikers in that role
CarraLegend Posted February 13, 2006 Posted February 13, 2006 I think we could sign him for £ 3-4 M. Yeah right
