Metallica to headline Download

One of the biggest rock legends ever ? Metallica have confirmed that their only UK appearance this year will be as headliner at Download 2006.

 

With two more headliners still to be announced, Download has once again proved its unparalleled quality and the only name that can guarantee the ultimate rock festival experience.

 

This unbelievable three-day extravaganza takes place at Donington Park on June 9, 10 and 11 2006, and with the incredible addition of Metallica to a bill that already includes The Prodigy, Trivium and Bullet For My Valentine, Download 06 will be bigger than ever.

 

Marking the seventh time they have appeared at Donington Park over the years, world giants Metallica will be set to steal not just the show, but the entire weekend. Two years after their last Download performance, the full line-up of Lars Ulrich, James Hetfield, Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo are back and will once again show why they are still considered one of the most exciting and exhilarating rock bands today.

 

Festival director Stuart Galbraith is proud to say, "With the announcement of this amazing artist we are set to have the biggest and best Download ever.

Metallica?s performance at Download 06 will be exclusive and will be their only UK show this year. To have Metallica come back to Download after Lars not being able to play in 2004 will be the completion of their latest Donington chapter in the band's 25th year."

 

With huge demand for tickets, Download 2006 went on sale on Friday 3 February and this year is selling faster than ever before. With this announcement the event is likely to sell out in record time.

 

Download 2006 will continue its reputation as the ultimate all-round festival experience, offering an incomparable range of accommodation, 24hr on-site camping and entertainment, as well as a minimum of three stages and the SNICKERS® Bowl featuring around 100 bands across the weekend.
