Guest PaulMcC Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 The amount of work he puts in is fantastic. His passing isn't brilliant, it's not bad either, but the amount of times he wins the ball and stops the opposition from playing is unbelievable. He reminds me of Gattuso. He's brilliant.
Guest Sabre Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 Yup but he needs to build his allround game and help the other midfielders. Early on though he was scaring the life out of Essien, closing him down all over the pitch. He was one of the main reasons why we had such a good spell in the 1st half. Chelsea couldn't get out of their own half.
Rory Fitzgerald Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 He is unbelieveable in that aspect but his control and passing always have me in cold sweats. Keep him in the side, the only way to improve but he does need to work WITH the ball
whitewidow Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 needs to buy some shooting boots and dwell a little longer on his passing. other than that - good start to his lfc days.
Nebraska Red Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 he is young enough to learn and has a great teacher in Rafa Benitez. he needs time, but that is in short supply when you play for a club like Liverpool.
Coyler Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 Passing and shooting awful, playacting and diving unimpressive. Ferocity and nuisance without the ball unparallelled, image and nickname cool. Like him.
The Hitman Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 How the hell did he start off up front though? He must've been terrible.
McBain Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 He hasn't played well in about 10 now So it's a good job he runs a lot
Leo No.8 Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 This lad has only just turned 21. If he matures as a footballer, then he could in a few years time be a player genuinely mentioned in the same breath as Viera...
Guest PaulMcC Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 He hasn't played well in about 10 now So it's a good job he runs a lot You don't think he played well yesterday?
Coyler Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 Was anybody else sort of hoping that the shocking pitch yesterday would be exactly out of phase with and thereby would somehow cancel out the natural bumpiness he seems to impart on his passes?
Leo No.8 Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 Was anybody else sort of hoping that the shocking pitch yesterday would be exactly out of phase with and thereby would somehow cancel out the natural bumpiness he seems to impart on his passes? His passes do have a bumpiness to them even on a flat pitch don't they...
McBain Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 You don't think he played well yesterday? He ran a lot. But his passing was poor. But he ran a lot
Guest Red Flame Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 Not impressed with him yesterday. As someone has said, he ran a lot and, oh yeh, he ran a lot. The game cried out for Didi Hamann. It was a great pity he wasn't available. Sissoko has much to learn and the Kaiser is the one to give him that education while he watches at close quarters like the bench. Don't get me wrong, he is a great prospect but he was at sea yesterday. .... and with all that sand on the pitch it was the closest Sissoko has got to the British seaside since he signed !!
Guz Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 "He runs alot, but we need to make his running more intellegent" Rafa said something like that about Gerrard last year, think the same applies to Momo.
D.Boon Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 Never fails to amaze me the plaudits Sissoko gets. I just dont see the fuss, i see him running around a lot but in terms of his effectiveness and influence on a game i just dont get it. How any one can say he was impressive yesterday is beyond me. He is young though so ...............
Earl Hafler Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 Not impressed with him yesterday. As someone has said, he ran a lot and, oh yeh, he ran a lot. Baros would have received MOTM votes for that type of display. He's a good player with bags of potential
Rusty Shackleford Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 His breaking up of play, his engine and enthusiasm are tremendous. Sadly his passing ability is Championship level which will stop him from becoming a great player. I can't help but feel he has sadly been far too over hyped.
floyd the barber Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 he was fantastic.....yes fantastic first 30mins of yesterday, then drifted out of the game like the rest of our side.. grrrrrrrrrrrrr im still so gutted, we were fecking excellent for the first 30mins...best we`d played since japan.
Billy Dane Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 As everyone says he is a great prospect, but at the moment I would stick him on the bench and play Didi with Kewell, Alonso and Gerrard in front of him. This would free up Alonso to get forward more and make better use of his awareness and passing ability in the opposition half. You never know with Fowler up front we might even score some goals.
elmer dinkley Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 Something else I've noticed... The nonspatial continuum in which events occur (more commonly referred to as time) and the ratio between the condition of being apart in space (also known as distance), invested by Sissoko is particularly impressive. Hang on, that just means he runs a lot.
Koogan Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 His breaking up of play, his engine and enthusiasm are tremendous. Sadly his passing ability is Championship level... That's it in a nutshell. Too often he wins the ball only to lose it again. Footie and long distance running are different things though.
Leo No.8 Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 See what the people here criticising are failing to understand is that a player of his type doesn't need to be able to pass the ball like Alonso. He is a pressuriser, an annoyer, a spoiler who does a tremendous amount of running and stops the opposition from playing. Every great team needs one of those, and look around the world game you'll see all the top teams have one. I lost count of the number of times a Chelsea player would get the ball and be instantly pressed by Sissoko on Sunday - that really does go unappreciated a lot of the time. Was Viera ever a great passer of the ball? Not in particular; Makalele is tidy but doesn't try anything spectacular - its not his job. Some people expect every player to be able to do everything; unfortunately there's only one Steven Gerrard - everyone else has limitations. As long as Sissoko learns to release the ball early and pass it simply, he'll become a vital member of the Rafalution...

I'm asking him NOT to lose possession so often immediately after winning the ball. He can pass sideways or backwards as long as it's to a team mate. I am not expecting him to perform defence-splitting passes.
